Thoughts on getting promoted and getting pregnant shortly after? My company has to honor my maternity leave by law but do you think this will be frowned upon or cause an issue? My company is family friendly but it just feels weird to me. I really want a second kid though so my kids can be close in age.

Go for it! Pregnancy isn’t always on predictable timing, even when you want it to be, so planning around a job (or anything) isn’t always perfect timing. Being on leave for 4-6 months (or whatever) will be just a blip in the course of a career. You (and your company) will be just fine!

Do it. I understand your concerns (I got pregnant my promo year and was actually on maternity leave when I was promoted) but honestly you can see it as 2 options: 1 you do it and they are understanding about it or 2 you do it and they are not and you learn that it’s not the company you would want to be with anyway.

Same here got promoted during maternity leave, go for it.

Go for it ! Don’t base your personal life decisions around your career

I just got promoted and I’m 6 months pregnant. You should do what is right for your family and body since it’s such a big decision.

I actually had maternity leave immediately after a promo. Its was perfect actually as the expectations were much lower than subsequent years when I was trying for the next promo.

My advise is to go for it ! My second was 3 years apart and I had a hard time conceiving. If your company is family friendly then you should not have any issues. Depending on your role there will have to be someone to cover for you while your gone. The corporate company I was with was not family friendly. The first day back I had an new assignment and had to fly a week to our Mexico division. Had to stop breast feeding cold turkey good thing I had pumped a supply during my leave. There will always be a career but having children is a lifelong blessing.

Perfect timing! :)

Great time cuz you aren’t worried about getting promoted then for another 2-3 years.

Definitely don’t let pregnancy stop you. You go up for your promotion when you’re ready and your accomplishments show you’re ready. I got promoted when I pregnant as well… no one ever had an issue or would have dared to say anything!

Hi Bob, do you have any insight into the justification behind the Dunkin’ Donuts to (just) Dunkin’ rebrand? Unsure if you were CEO throughout this initiative, so I’ll gladly take your speculation as well. Thanks!!
