Thoughts on giving more than a 2 week notice? Something more like a 4-6 week notice?

Most places would appreciate that!

As long as you are not going to a direct competitor (or going to work on a current client’s direct competitor), hard to imagine any place not being ok with that.

I gave my former job 2 months, even though only needed to give 2 weeks, because I knew they'd be lost without me. Not only did they love me for it, but my new job also appreciated that I cared enough about my team not to leave them out to dry. As long as communication with your new employer is open, I think you should always offer (unless, of course, the company/team you're leaving are a-holes).

like

I think your always best to offer 3-4 weeks if you want to maintain a good relationship on your way out. Any more than that can be painful for all involved

The higher your level, the more time I've seen organizations appreciate having to get things in order. Two things to consider:

1) would they offer you the same courtesy? Most places would drop you with zero warning.

2) be prepared that they may end your employment early, possibly even that day. Just weigh if you need the income before deciding.

What’s in it for you? Six weeks is a long time to work with people who know you don’t want to be there.

In the UK we do 3 months, or 6 months if it's a board director level type of position. It's hard to hire at top levels so any additional notice I'm sure it's more than welcome!

I’d give 4 weeks+ for anyone who is over a department.

The norm in the UK is minimum 4 weeks. 3 months manager level 6 months director and above.

Why not take time off between jobs instead?

Hi all,
I had my technical round scheduled with Capgemini last week. This week I cleared the L1 interview round and HR discussion. Before releasing the offer letter they asked me to submit my documents and sent a link to appear for an AMCAT exam (English grammer and email writting) as part of hiring process . My question is based on AMCAT score is there a possibility that Capgemini would revoke my offer ? Is it an elimination round as they mentioned this a part of Capgemini hiring process?

Genuinely curious: How do you justify working in PR knowing that you won’t make $100k+ for 15-20 years? I’m 3 years into my career and I have regrets about choosing this field when I look at my financial timeline.

Why does anyone choose to work at an agency instead of in-house at a top-tier or even mid-tier brand? Seems like the pay is worse, hours are usually longer and you almost always get little respect from the clients. Particularly at a junior- mid level, what are the advantages?

I worked as Comms Dir. for 6 years at a nonprofit that hosts conferences as its primary activity. 3 yrs back, financial problems gutted staff and my position was eliminated- due to my intervention, my direct report remained. This person I hired and trained has done well, organized and efficient. It is now time to staff up for another conference and I’m welcome to return, but my direct report is being promoted to Comms Dir. they’d like to split the role somehow, but I can’t figure out how.
