Would a 30% raise be worth no longer being able to do anything except work during the week.

Personally i would say enjoy the trainimg, coaching and work life balance

helpful

I’ve just had my 1 year anniversary at a small boutique firm with a very niche focus. Prior to consulting, I spent a few years in industry, and found that work way more intense than my current role. I was consistently working 90+ hours a week and got totally burnt out. I quit and took a pretty major pay cut when I started at my current company.

Honestly, I love everything about my job except my pay. The people are great, the coaching and development is great. I rarely work more than 45 hours a week (although a lot of my coworkers do, so maybe I’m just staffed on easier projects?) and travel 20% MAX.

The demand for the type of work we do is rapidly increasing, and recently a number of my coworkers have left to do the same thing at Accenture / KPMG / Deloitte for a 50% or more increase in pay.

I’d love to see that kind of pay jump, but am hesitant about the possible increase in hours and the definite increase in travel. Has anyone here made a similar move / have any insights?

What is it that you do, if you don’t mind me asking?

Size up your network and decide if it enough to support your own book of business in 5 or 10 years. It sounds like it is not so time to shop. Remember to leave on a good note.

Any tips for a paralegal who wants to transition to an in-house position? I have 2.5 years of para experience and a decade of admin experience. I have my BA, AS, and AAS which are all related to the paralegal field, and various applicable certificates. I'm also working on my master's in management with a concentration in agency administration. All job postings I see want you to have a certain amount of in-house experience.

I don’t know what I want to do or where I should be applying. I’ll graduate next summer with a BA in Management, I’m sort of thinking something to do with project management but that’s obviously not entry level. So I don’t know what I should be applying for, if I should be doing internships, and what a good career path looks like. I’d like to work from home due to health reasons, any advice helps

I'm halfway through a contract position and enjoying it, and would like to transfer to full-time, but I worry about the 90-day gap in employment and that I wouldn't be able to find the same position remotely with this company. Pre covid I worked in theater and event management. Obviously I’ve been out of work since then and I’ve been trying to get a job in project management since I do a lot of that with my current field. I’ve realized no one takes my resume or past career seriously since a lot don’t see theater as a transitional field. Would love any advice.

I’ve been activity looking for new paralegal roles but my last position was working in the public sector. Some have told me that it’s a pro, others have said that it’s a con. I’m largely applying for positions in the private sector now, and I’ve found that I don’t have many of the entry level skills like e-filing that employers expect. Is there any alternative to taking on a role that is completely entry-level to gain those?

Ever lose your desire to be so design/program intensive? The last few projects I’ve been on have required tons of photoshop comping and designing with no conceptual part. If I’m starting to dislike some of this or lose motivation, should I consider changing industries or stop being an art director? I like the conceptual aspects of the job and think visually, but don’t know if I’m going to want to be an Adobe expert or enjoy designing small things for the rest of my career.
