Thoughts on income level to switch from Roth to traditional 401k? Currently facing a marginal tax rate of 36.75% including state taxes. Feels like traditional is the better bet now.

Go at least 50%Roth if not 100%. Capitalize on the tax breaks while you have them. Unless this “phase 2” happens tax cuts for individuals go back to what they previously were in 2025

Roth you pay taxes upfront but don’t have to pay capital gains tax as I understand. That’s pretty huge

Moelis you’re thinking right. Unless you plan to retire in a high tax area like nyc you’re probably paying higher taxes than you will in retirement so defer those taxes to then and switch to traditional. Its not always as simple to say just pay taxes up front no matter what

Has anyone left healthcare and is now really happy? I’m an MSN, RN with 12 years hospital experience. I’m burned out and tired of making crap pay. I have an opportunity outside of healthcare that would pay more and challenge me in new ways that I haven’t experienced before. It’s a total shift that would really heal my work-life balance, job satisfaction and budget. My only fear is that I would not be using the license and degree that I worked so hard for. I would appreciate any input!!!!

Hi all, I have a question regarding retirement accounts. I am not sure if I should choose a Roth or 401k (company has 4+2% match). Currently 23, base salary is ~100k and investments have brought 45k this year which has me teetering between a 22-24% tax bracket. Wondering what the usual tax bracket is of people retired (around 65yo) as I’m not sure anything would bring in significant income with the exception of investments. In my case would a Roth make sense? Appreciate any answers!!
