Thoughts on INSEAD MBA? It looks like it is a really good programme. More on the ability to get a job back in the US? Also thoughts on other European MBAs (London Business School, Cambridge)?

I took LBS over Booth. Don’t regret it at all. LBS/Insead are a tier above Cambridge/oxford/others as a heads up

Insead holds value globally, but not so much in the US. Figure out what your post-MBA plan is, and if it is US specific then pick a top 15 US school to make it worthwhile. Just my 2 cents..

European business schools don’t hold the same brand equity here in the US. INSEAD, LBS and others are great schools, but if you get into any of the top 10 business schools here, I’d recommend picking one of those, if your plan is to stay in the US.

The US market is quite insular so, regardless of actual quality, the recruiting is probably easier from M7 US schools compared to INSEAD or LBS (even though the latter have been ranked higher globally from time to time). The recruiters at MBB know INSEAD and LBS very well, though. So unless you are going for a small American firm, everyone will have heard of them. I loved INSEAD, it really is an amazing place. There were several people that got MBB in Chicago and NYC but most of the Americans were at INSEAD to get more global opportunities rather than go back to the States. Oxford and Cambridge have good programmes too but they are not the same level as INSEAD and LBS. Their business schools are a little separate from the main universities.

If you have no visa issues for coming back state side, I’d say go for it! INSEAD has a great global rep and if you have an undergrad network to tap into in the US, you’re good from a recruiting perspective too

LBS and INSEAD are top global programs but the other European programs less so (Cambridge, Oxford). I’d take LBS or INSEAD if you are interested in being abroad; otherwise take a US top MBA. Recruiting for US roles shouldn’t be bad since they’re such strong programs, but I’d defer to US folks who have gone there and returned. These are also good questions for the career office - see if you can get a breakdown of US jobs vs global, as well as for each firm.

Thank you! I appreciate all the advice and perspectives.

For b-school rankings, top US schools will weigh over int’l programs like Oxford + Cambridge. But outside of business world Oxford on your resume stands out wayyyy more than any top 20 US b-school (aside from HBS, Stanford, etc.) ... people aren’t generally impressed with going to Michigan. All these programs are super unique and best in the world ... don’t let baseless comments like “not the same tier” limit you. These are all solid educations that offer unbelievable amount of opportunity.

INSEAD has a great rep but think about OCR access. If you wanted a particular US office it will take more legwork recruiting from overseas

If you’re sponsored by Deloitte and interested in living abroad, the international programs are really fun and unique experience. Recruiting can be harder, but that depends what you’re looking for. MBB lets you pick office preference. Plenty of LBS students went back to the US for new MBB offers, and it was no problem. others went for fang/Uber, both in SF/NY but majority applied for London. If you want to recruit in something that requires more networking (eg VC, startups) it might be better to be in the city you want to recruit in.

Thanks McK this is very helpful! And yes sponsored by Deloitte but want to keep options open for other US opportunities

Hey team - would appreciate your feedback I'm currently a SC at Guidehouse making ~$100k. Very bored but considered a strong employee and on manager track. I have an offer to join D GPS as an SC with 20-30% more pay. The work would be similar. If I stay at Guidehouse I would likely apply for an MBA in Fall 2021. But if I join D, that would delay an year and I would apply in Fall 2022. What would you recommend from MBA and career sense? At this point, I'd be applying for an MBA at age 31/32.

I have some name recognition in the nonprofit development world, where quite a number of people do need these credits. Not sure what to try next. I also have a 25k word text that could accompany these webinars and serve as a desk reference, not quite ready for publication. Have not figured out distro.

At this point all I care about is salary what would result in your opinion most money •CFP •CPA •prestigious MBA •CFA •CAIA •coding boot camp I’m at $85k now
