I have also noticed that insurance seems to draw a very high percentage of pure strategy projects, and the people at PwC and S& who did insurance are wonderful folks in my experience. My question is whether or not you like insurance. If you want to be a manager or above someday, then I would ask myself how much I would enjoy working on insurance projects at 1 am on Tuesday night.
If you want to leave Accenture, then I would think about how much you want to be in insurance. At the junior level, exits are determined by intrinsic capability, personal performance, firm brand, and general exposure to different issues. For managers and above, industry exposure matters more.
In short, really depends on your exit plan and what you enjoy out of the job. I think everything else is secondary.
If your plan is b-school, go to insurance. Follow people you like because it's easy to switch after MBA. If you're planning to stay at ACN for a while I'd take a hard look at whether you really like insurance.
