Hi everyone, I thought this might be of interest to some of you in the UK: if you're curious about joining a union for the creative communications sector, the creative comms workers are co-hosting an open event together with design and cultural workers (both organising under the UVW union) https://mailchi.mp/f6f0a89c1151/big-announcement?e=42015b6647 The event is on the 2nd of Feb between 7-8 pm GMT on Zoom. You don't need to be an existing union member to join and freelancers are welcome!

ZS Associates
I have a couple of questions for ZS fishes-
1. Is it possible to turn down a promotion at ZS? I'm currently happy with my responsibilities as a Decision Analytics Consultant and don't want any added responsibilities in the near future (next 5 years)
2. Is it possible to shape up a career path in the BC stream which doesn't involve business development? I don't want to get into working on SOWs and RFPs.

Lol M&A at Kirkland, good luck. Enjoy your life now while you still have one because you’ll be saying bye bye to it soon if you go to K&E.
A1 may be right. I have friends who, albeit in Chicago, were (past tense) in K&E PE/M&A and there were at 3k billables for a couple of years and bounced. Had another friend who went into a support group for PE and is hitting like 290-300 a month. I haven’t worked there, so I’m not hating and I’m sure you can bill more reasonable (like 2.4 or 2.5k a year) and not get fired. Look, if you don’t care about working and want to stack $$…Go for it.
Stay far away
FWIW, I’m in the K&E Dallas doing M&A and I really enjoy it. The Dallas group is super fun and more laid back than many of the other offices. Hours are still pretty high but you have control over how much you say yes to and what deals you want to do, which IMO makes the job much much more enjoyable
Recent TX M&A lateral here. The TX offices seem to operate very differently and I’ve enjoyed it so far. The hours are the same as my old firm but the work quality is better and I really like the TX people. You just have to be in charge of your own time. If you’re someone who can’t say “no” to deals this is not the place for you.
