If you are starting as an Audit Associate some time from now with Deloitte or any of the big 4, do they expect you to have passed/completed all 4 parts by the time you start? Received the Becker Reimbursement email from the recruiter not too long ago but have yet to start. I’ve seen plenty of people get to Senior at a big 4 firm without the CPA so I am a bit confused in that aspect. Any helpful feedback will be very much appreciated.

I’ve done a bit of both, AAS isn’t terrible if you like accounting. If you’re more interested in finance you’ll prob like fdd. AAS has more travel but way more (and less) hours. Fdd is like banking where you’ll sit around till 3 and then get absolutely destroyed with work. Some AAS work is more interesting than the rest, an IPO prep is a lot more interesting than accounting change etc.
Actually the two biggest in FDD with most deal volume are PwC and KPMG
^AAS has more travel and predictable hours/scheduling/longer term engagements and less hours *** lol one of those days were i sat around then got destroyed at 3
Mmmm yeah I’d agree with KPMG1. I don’t know much about PwC’s deal flow but I don’t think EY’s or Deloitte’s deal flow is strong. KPMG is by far the leader in my market. I’d probably even say KPMG deal flow is greater than the other three combined. Nationally I’m not sure, but our national deal advisory lead consistently talks about how KPMG is clearly number one in the FDD/AAS space. Although we can’t hold a candle to Deloitte’s federal/IT position or PwC’s audit position or asset management tax. I’m not sure what EY is good at.
We good at Vision 2020...duh
I would probably guess t depends on what exit opportunities you want - FDD could get you closer to banking
If you want to do FDD, are a senior in audit and live in a major market (NYC, Boston, Chi, LA, SF, DC), there are at least two B4 firms in your market actively hiring. PwC and EY are the biggest players in FFD, followed by D and then KPMG
What’s the difference
Thanks all, this is helpful! My gut feeling is that FDD is more up my alley, but good to know that Accounting Advisory would involve more travel
