I started looking when I was a senior consultant but only found mediocre positions without big pay increases. I stayed until Manager and then got my dream offer from Google and over double my Manager compensation. My vote is to stay until you get an offer for everything you are looking for. Don’t settle regardless at what level you leave
@Google1 can I have your job 🤣🤣🤣
I don't agree. I think exit opps are better at C. Nonetheless, what's the harm in looking now?
Stay, better exit opportunities
@google1 - can you talk a bit about what type of consulting did you do before and what sort of role did you exit into at Google?
Depends on what role you started in. If you started as a consultant, leaving before your first promo is not going to maximize your exit opportunities
@C1, I was in Finance Transformation consulting and joined Google’s Finance Strategy & Systems Implementations team. Essentially internal consulting & program management for finance.
Started as an Associate. D1 - I am looking now just want to know if it’s smarter to wait for better opportunities. If so, what can you get as a manager v. C role?
F
Stay.
@LEK thoughts on leaving as an associate vs staying on until associate consultant? Not sure if the market knows the difference
G1, I really like your last comment on not settling until you've found everything you wanted. Couldn't agree more. But I think the mention about your title is incorrectly attributing your success to your seniority. Could've been a bad year where the right roles weren't available.
@D1, definitely agree with you. My advise is more around not settling for something sub-par. A great offer can come at any moment in your career, just be sure you know it is the right thing for you.
@ A1, there are a lot of options at the A2 level, particularly if you want to go to PE. But, the options get better on the corporate side once you get the AC promotion
