Been on vacation for 3 weeks now and was just assigned to a project for when I get back. Had to log in to sign background checks but completely forgot my password since it's been so long...
Junior associate with deal closing tomorrow. Partner said that I need to cover for part of the day (despite the fact that I said I’m taking off for Yom Kippur) cause said partner is golfing. Also had to cancel a vacation for said partner a month ago. Sign to leave?
2nd year in and having gone straight from undergrad to banking, cant imagine what it feels like to have a “normal job” (i.e. 9-5, weekend free, no work on vacation, can unplug completely off work)
Thoughts on vacations: is it unrealistic to be left alone while you’re on vacation, even if it’s planned well in advance? Starting to feel like time away is impossible & slowly creeping into burnout
You know you’re moving up in the world when you have to let more and more people know about your upcoming PTO
I will never understand grown ups that don’t have children that still choose to vacation at Disney
Our nanny is taking vacation soon and my mom is watching our 2 kids. A friend’s nanny offered to drive our oldest to/from preschool and watch her over lunch so that my mom isn’t racing around (cont)
What do people do on vacation? First day of vacation and I can't rest - constant feeling of missing something important from work
When the firm pays out your PTO, are taxes withheld at the typical paycheck rate or the higher rate you see with bonuses? Also do firms account for 401K for PTO payout (not the match, your own)?
Has My People Link been updated for vacation days with the transition to Mercury? Also, if you’re carrying over vacation from the prior year, when do you have to use it by?
Taking a half day of PTO this Friday. Cheers to everyone who can get out of the office early today after a crazy week of grinding. To those who can’t, may the PPT winds always be at your back.
I go back tomorrow after a week's vacation. When is it expected I start catching up on email? Tonight? Tomorrow?
"Who was your plus-one to that previous company event? Bring them to the holiday party!" "Yeah I'd love to but we actually stopped seeing eac--" "Anyway can't wait to see them at the holiday party!"
Tired: your agency giving you some time off to go vote on Election Day. Wired: Your agency giving you the day off to volunteer to Get Out The Vote because you voted early, duh.
How do you all feel about splitting vacations 50/50 in a relationship and dates 60/40? I might be old fashioned but this rubs me the wrong way. I feel like I have to work 2x as hard to be taken seriously at work as a woman and pay for all kinds of crap like hair appts, nails, makeup, outfits to be viewed positively by men. Not to mention, expensive birth control, periods, and eventually potentially having a child. 50/50 makes me feel like a friend and not that valued. Thoughts?
Today is my first day of my first IVF cycle. After getting the green light to start IVF based on my negative COVID test, baseline ultrasound and bloodwork, I feel relieved that this day has come after unsuccessfully trying to conceive naturally and with IUI, and even excited now. LET'S DO THIS!
Are there any good movies or novels that show skill development - like follow through? Self-management? Money management? I read a lot of self help books so I know a lot of the theory, and books peppered with examples help, but I feel like most 1 paragraph examples don’t five justice to how hard it may be to change a behavior.
Hey, I have applied to a job at EY for Risk assurance. My academics are pretty good and I'm pursuing ACCA with BCom, with a year of internship experience as well. I have tried to apply but I think a referral would really help. Please dm me for referrals. Would be happy to speak on linkedin as well and send my job ID as well.
Been flying coast to coast for 8 months. Got a great review, should get promoted next year if I stay on this project, but if I stay on for the second release, it'll be another 7-8 months and...
Didn't get promoted and the more I think about it, the more upset I become. Had a good year, helped fill in gaps, took on roles to help lead internal initiatives, led/managed teams to success, and worked looonnnggg hours to the point of burnout. Leaders also know how much I was working. I didn't expect a promotion because I had low expectations for my firm, but I'm still pretty bitter. Should I ask why? Was I too naive and ended up giving too much? Or is this a reflection of my work/value?
Just got offered. Is Capgemini considering permanent work from home set-up for it’s employees? Maybe employees here are receiving emails about it, kindly share bit info :)
Applying for MBA in fall 2021 but got laid off recently - What my next job would be to help or not hurt my MBA applications to the TOP10 programs? (See comment for my background and details.) 🙏🙏
How is Hawaii right now? Are beaches and restaurants open? As a mainland tourist is it worth visiting to stay at a nice hotel and get some warm weather?
New to comp. C here, my senior just took credit over my work on a meeting with our higher ups. Is this common? What should I do?
Do you check emails on the weekend because of covid wfh situation/generally? Or check email but wait to reply on Monday unless an urgent response is required?
Hey friends - I’m currently on a brief medical leave (~1 month) and my management has been contacting me quite regularly by phone and email without notice for different documentation and admin processes relating to the leave. It’s basically taking up as much time as my regular work. Not sure what is reasonable here as I would really like to focus on healing and just deal with it when I’m back…isn’t that the point? What are my rights here?
Layoffs and furloughs thread. What firms are cutting and furloughing? Across all industries.
Any other benefits/allowances in Capgemini?
I am currently going through a green card process with my company and they are asking me to sign an agreement, where my notice period is increased to 6 months and if I leave within 3 years, I have to repay the costs associated with my application. (Max 7k). Is this a standard practice?
Ever hear of a temp-perm role in industry? The company tries you out for a few months before hiring you as an official employee. They won't pay benefits until I'm an official employee but in the(cont)
