Is it a good time to switch jobs
Folks, Need help. How is EY India based out of 22 Camac Street Calcutta/Kolkata? As I am already aware that I have been recruited for Client Implementation, so mostly will be on Clients place as a Manager Role for Tech Consulting. Can anyone give more information about work culture? Also came to know there are less Consultants available on my domain (SAP SD) and EY India is building practice and actively hiring. Got to know mixed review on Work Life balance. Also time to get promoted as Sr Mgr?
WLB - likely to be better if you’re in strategy atm
Breadth of work - likely to be better
Exposure - better
I would say the only con is you may close off any immediate avenues to a deal team role
Yeah not to worried about going into the deal team in the future. Feels like my background lends well to the ops team looking at process efficiencies, strategy, org.
Big question is what is the career path from an ops role after? F500 strategy, VC, back to consulting?
WLB is about the same
What kind of comp do PE Operations roles get?
The recruiter said up front that total comp all in could be 200k, given I’m at 106 base my ears perked. Haven’t gotten into actual interviews yet though
Once you go down the ops path, joining the deal team is very unusual. Lower middle market firms that are growing quickly might be an exception. If you decide you want to go the ops path and assuming you’re joining an established team, I would make sure to talk to several of your future peers about their day-to-day, as these roles can vary significantly by PE firm. Some are great partners who recognize the value you bring to the table, while others treat you as a second class citizen. I would look for (i) an established value creation playbook, (ii) exposure to the deal team during the interview process, and (iii) their willingness to connect you with other people in similar roles. This isn’t a 45-hour a week corporate job, but most firms outside of mega funds should be an improvement from consulting
Thanks this is helpful
