I’m a 2nd year and effectively just ran a deal on my own with the partner. It ran smoothly, I got praise from the partner, and the partner said that they trust me to do most stuff without their sign off (so no need to check with them in future unless I’m really unsure). Generally there is one or two mid levels above me, and I find it way harder to do my job when they are managing me. They like to keep me on the bench, get me to do minor tasks and don’t let me take responsibility and ownership.
Never been on the bench. Always been 90+% utilization rate. Can I just be on the bench so I can study for CPA 🤣😭
I have a feeling my Engagement Partner wants me to quit the engagement. It's my 3rd week, but he's been nothing but rude, demeaning and unhelpful. Refuses to answer any of my questions and then berates and belittles me for not knowing the answers. He already threatened to "replace" me if I don't show adequate progress. Roll off voluntarily or wait until he fires me?
All these posts about people getting laid off are making me paranoid. I’ve been on the bench since the beginning of February and scheduled to start my maternity leave 4/28. 😬
Friday thought - Being a new experience hire on the bench makes you question your intelligence, usefulness, and sanity
TFW you're on the bench for weeks, getting multiple calls per week from outside recruiters, but your own firm has nothing for you to do 🤔
Trying out keto while on bench. Not too bad so far. Anyone had success keeping it up for the long term? While traveling?
Do we need a consulting meetup where we can chat about the job market, critical open jobs, and what we can do to resole. It seems that we have no one on the bench
What do y’all do while on the bench?
Does anyone else feel like it’s a bit slow at their firm right now or is it just mine? Apparently lots of people on the bench here...
Day 5 on the bench, 5 consecutive days of working out In an alternate universe, I work 9-5 and am fit af But for now just trying to burn off alcohol fat from the past few months 😂
As a senior where do you draw the line for charging time to an engagement where you’re rolled off (or haven’t rolled on yet) but are being asked questions or to do things?
I need more EQMs before the year's out and currently on the bench. $75 round trip flights to Vegas... 🤔
Is there any benefit for analysts/consultants who are on the bench to help with BD work? Does it make a difference in terms of networking/getting your name out - or is it really just doing

What is the best way to select a developer or agency? Submitted a project on upwork and got tons of proposals. Would love some advice on the recommended way to qualify them. Everyone seems to have very similar estimation, experience and a great deal of projects done in portfolio.

My mom died 6 years ago. For some reason this is the hardest Mother’s Day. Previous years didn’t really affect me as much.
How do y'all deal with being lonely while traveling? I know no one at this client site and I have no family or friends or coworkers in the area.
Is it frowned upon to have a second job? Like accounting tutor, part-time AP, etc. I don’t think the salary cuts it.
Having an informational interview that I’m hoping will lead to an exit opportunity. I’m compiling a list of questions to ask and was wondering if anyone had recommendations or go-to questions?
How hard is it to get into MBB after graduating college versus being in college and applying for an entry-level roll? Specifically, I’m wondering what the chances are of getting into the MBB if I don’t secure an entry-level offer during my final recruiting cycle this fall. If I want, is it possible (or is there a way) to get into MBB a within months after I graduate?
Has anyone lost motivation to work? After the holidays and a promotion, I thought I would start the year off renewed and ready to go but the opposite is true. Help?
Any insight on how to source land an industry job besides applying directly online? Should I engage a recruiter? I’m only getting inquiries on LinkedIn regarding consulting positions with other professional services firms.

Looking to recruit a partner or mid-level associate and care particularly about work quality, culture fit, and tech proficiency (though, I guess, who doesn’t?). Suggestions on best way to source recruiting leads and use the interview process to vet candidates? Am willing to pay market salary comp with above market incentive pay, so hoping that we can cast widely.
