Thoughts on life insurance? Wife and I are low 30s, own a house, no kids (yet).

Do it. At a minimum get enough to pay off the mortgage for each of you plus a bit of a cushion for time off from work/unexpected expenses that come up. (Unfortunately I know three people who died in their 30s in the past year so I’ve learned more about this than I ever wanted to.) Assuming you are both healthy, now is the time to lock in higher insurance amounts at lower rates, but you can always add policies later too.

Agree with P1 above. To add: only get term life, not whole.

Does anyone have a recommendation on who to go with for a term policy?

Look at aggregators such as Health IQ or Policy Genius. Then choose a well rated company with low premium.

I get the best deal through my employer so look into that as well. If I get a new job that does not offer such a good plan (10x salary for $25/mo), then I’ll shop but for now it doesn’t seem to make sense to me.

Don’t disagree but as a healthy 31 year old, by far the most likely chance of an early death is a sudden accident. I could probably find a lower dollar plan to supplement as you said but I just haven’t made that a priority yet.

My wife and I have both big enough term policies that we would be able to pay off the house and kids college if either of us died. So the term on the policies is timed to end when our youngest is done with college (assuming graduating in 4 years.) After that it didn't seem necessary.

We have one for each of us - 30 year term, covers the cost of our house and 10 years income - it’s totally worth it in my opinion - likely less if my spouse died as we live off my income and save hers, but if I were to die - she would be troubled, the money would allow her to live the same lifestyle for a long time assuming she continued to work.

Need help! I have two coworkers whom I love—they’re my best friends at work, make our toxic work environment bearable, and are always there for me. My issue is that they are really negative, and their pessimism is starting to affect my mood. One is going through some health issues, so I can kind of understand. The other just hates our workplace, and I’m really tired of her whining. What can I do? How can I approach this without losing my safe place to vent?

I am a registered sales assistant which means I have my series 7. I also have the 63 and my Life & Health license. I was a financial advisor but the role is commission only so I decided to take a role as an assistant for some time to learn etc. I really like my role, but I only make 32k a year and after taxes I only take home about 25k. I have a gut feeling that I’m not being paid market value but it’s tough to find comparable salaries. Do you think $15.38/hr is a fair wage in this case?

After 6 years of temporary contracts and unstable situations, I find my dream job in my dream company. All of a sudden the world goes upside down and I get laid off. I start sending hundreds of applications, with only 2 recruiters getting back to me to say I don’t have experience for the job (this is how it works in Italy). Add a terrible health situation in my family and it seems there’s no light at the end of the tunnel. Ugh. 😞

He does go off and lists things that need work. Will he have probably cause to collect a commission if I go directly to seller with an offer?

I have 25k in cash savings, contribute 6% of my income to a 401k to get 3% match, and make roughly 90k a year. Should I pay off my loans right away or pay off over a 2-3 year period? I figure with there interest rate being in the 7% range it’s dumb not to pay them off as it would be hard to achieve a 7% return in the market right now (again I could be wrong with that as well)?
