“Tone policing is defined as "a conversational tactic that dismisses the ideas being communicated when they are perceived to be delivered in an angry, frustrated, sad, fearful, or otherwise emotionally charged manner." Managers striving to create a workplace based on equity and inclusion must understand how tone policing silences members of marginalized groups and allows discrimination to persist.” https://www-businessinsider-com.cdn.ampproject.org/c/s/www.businessinsider.com/how-to-identify-and-help-stop-tone-policing-in-workplace-2020-8?amp

What’s the difference?
Depends on what you’re looking for. I like NoMa and have friends that really enjoy living there but it’s very busy and kind of loud. If you don’t mind that it’s a great neighborhood! Also a good spot for people that what to prioritize living in new buildings.
I wouldn’t recommend. If you do like the area, Union Market is a bit better but NoMa can be quite an odd mixed bag
I don't personally live in NoMa, but I have a few friends who moved over there to the business district apartments. I've heard good things, though the AVA apartments can be pricey. One of my friends is a big runner, so she enjoys the metro branch trail. Is there something specific you're looking to find out about the area?
Thanks! I’m trying to get a sense of what it’s like actually living in the area. Is there much socializing? Nightlife? Every time I’ve visited, it seems to just be a number of luxury apartment buildings/fast casual restaurants and some office space. Unsure if I’m looking in the wrong places for the social areas
Don’t. I work there. There’s much better areas in the same price range
Where would you recommend?
No ma(‘am)
Too much petty crime, general quality of life annoyances in the streets.
What sort of crime? Haven’t seen anything on Citizen
What type of neighborhood are you looking for? Noma and navy yard are pretty similar in that they’re the cookie cutter apt buildings / not much else. If u just want a nice building then those r good. If you want better food options and more culture then many other options
I would love to have culture, and a community…which to me feels like U St/DuPont/Logan, but I’ve been finding trouble finding spaces that compare in size and price to what I’m seeing in Noma (when you factor in amenities)
There’s really no nightlife/restaurants near Noma?
