Their statement said they are required by law to accept the event. Since they’re a hotel they have rules that apply to them that other event hosting spaces don’t. I mean I’m not a lawyer but I feel like if they said that in a statement it’s probably true.
Plus Marriott doesn’t even own that hotel so I’m not sure there is anything they could do anyway.
While that might be true, their statement went beyond that, saying that they want to be a welcoming place for all ideas. It didn’t just say they are compelled by law to host this event
