Thoughts on MBA as a means to move into higher management? Or is it a waste of time/money and experience/networking alone matter most when trying to move up into management? I’m quite young and currently on an SDE position but my goal is to not stay under a technical position “forever”

The ROI of an MBA is zero if you’re trying to get into management. Skills and accomplishments are what gets you to the top.

Read the bio of the senior leaders in your company and count how many have MBAs.

The upper management people that I've most respected always came up from some technical background. I didn't respect the upper management that had an MBA and no technical background. I don't think I'd think less of anyone if they had an MBA in addition to their tech background though.

Hi! Wanting to know if anyone has any recommendations on how to negotiate your salary increase that comes with your promotion. In the past, I've had underwhelming salary increases with my promotions at my previous employer. Hello all, could someone share the level of embedded software engineer (I, II, V) in the US? In YOE ? I'm in Europe and we use just two: junior and senior

Thanks!

I have 5 years of experience in embedded, which is the fair level?

I’ll be joining McKinsey & Company very soon as an Expert AP & I am excited. I got so many personal welcome messages, which was nice. I’m entering the firm with dedicated sponsors & I feel supported. I know that there will be some long days, hard work, & travel, but I am ready! I’m really eager to learn the McKinsey approach to strategy, problem solving, & communication. My ask is - If you are currently at McKinsey (or have recently been at McKinsey), & you have any advice, please share it. TIA!

I got passed over for a promotion to manager at a company I've been with for 9 years. They claim it's because I don't have enough sales experience, yet the 2 people they promoted to the role were doing the same thing as me beforehand. In fact, 1 of the people was just given the role and didn't have to go through the 5 interviews the rest of us had to endure. I'm debating whether I should stick around and see if some other manager role opens up or plan my way out of there.

I personally don't have a mentor to discuss this topic, so I like to know from you the below.

Right now, I have a decent offer for the role of Major Incident Manager, but how much CTC can be demanded as I am moving from non tech to techincal role.

Silly question but, do devops engineer required to work in rotational shifts?.

I know I have no prior experience, but since I’m early in my career and with taking some courses/certifications (Google analytics, SEO, etc.) to boost my resume, I’m hoping to make the switch. Any advice on where to start, what type of marketing positions I would align with, etc?

Hey guys off topic

I had travelled from Mumbai to Howrah by train in Dec 2021 and had worked from my laptop. The speed was decent and I was able to attend most of the calls too. This month i again travelled on the same route and I barely got above 2 MBPS. There was no proper network along the way, God knows why. Is this due to incoming 5G bandwidth or any other reason?

I’m a mid level engineer and my team is overwhelmed. There’s more work than we can complete in the timelines that leadership/product has committed to, which is causing leadership to override technical decisions seemingly to meet those deadlines. An example would be routing all live traffic to a feature which was not fully tested, instead of waiting until testing is complete or having that change be dormant and the feature enabled later. Has anyone dealt with this type of issue?

How do you all deal with the guilt of leaving a comany/ team? I have been working at Microsoft for 1 year now, and seriously considering moving.
