Thoughts on Milbank NY project finance team? Workload, hours, environment, ups and downs? Thoughts on Milbank NY in general are also welcome.

As a mid-level at MB, I know many of my classmates were worked to the bone (several over 300 hr months) with very menial work (sig pages and the like) and have moved on. Milbank NY, in my view is slowly moving away from the slightly more palatable culture it’s been known for to be a larger player in the market and commensurately more miserable place to work. That said - I know a ton of happy lawyers there - but few in the project finance group.

A1 - long term trend

Another Milbank (transactional, but not projects) mid-level checking in. Milbank is overall a solid place to be. Compensation is great, I actually like 90% of my colleagues, no hours minimum, and very solid finance work are the reasons I am happy. My hours have been a little less rough than friends report elsewhere, but it’s not a unicorn or anything in terms of hours. It’s also nice having a great restructuring group as a hedge in rougher economic times. That said, my perspective and word on the street is that the project finance group is a little tougher than others in terms of hours/work generally. The other thing to to consider is that it seems Milbank is not going to be a leader with respect to liberal WFH policies/remote arrangements.
