Received a job offer yesterday with a HUGE pay raise but the company’s PTO policy is less than desirable. With my current start date I’d only be getting 6 vacation days for the rest of the year.

My current job offers unlimited PTO but I’d probably take about 20 days this year with weddings and events I want to attend.

Any advice on how to negotiate?

I’ve been a staff attorney at a state-level appellate court for 11 years now. I draft opinions all day long, every day. It’s been an ideal job in a lot of ways (flexible hours when my kids were young, etc), but I’m starting to feel the itch to do something different (and to make more $!). Suggestions on practice areas that would find my skill set valuable? Suggestions on how to find out what market rate would be for salary for an 13-year attorney that has only worked within the court system?

Mine was 56 hours straight with no break—and the partner was more than a jerk when I was saying no more at the 30 hour point. That was two 24 hour billable days back to back on my time sheet and on the bill, a 360 hour month, and 650 aggregated for two months. Is it expected that people who exit from MBB/Deloitte at post mba levels (PL/EM/M) take paycuts when going to industry? (non FAANG, PE). I'm In process at multiple internal consulting/strategy groups who say the paycut is part of the trade-off for less hours/no travel.

But as a female🐠, I can't discern whether this is just a negotiation tactic. Mentors have told me never take less pay.
