Putnam is an elite boutique, and don’t think there is much to argue for it being otherwise.
People here only acknowledge if you’re MBB or T2, maybe Big4 (although in LS their presence is not as strong), which is a very narrow view of the world we work in.

Agree - I get MBB and T2 but BIG4 presence in LS is negligible. You see most exits into VC/industry come from MBB/T22 or these boutiques
Some internal perspective
1. WLB is better than most strategy firms
2. Upward mobility is great at junior level (before SM equivalent role)
3. Work is strictly strategy
4. Putnam is an ashfield company now, the impact of that has been minimal for Putnam so far 2 years in. We’ve changed our logo but everything is essentially the same so far
5. Compensation is not as competitive as T2
6. We are double staffed which takes a while to get used to

Folks on this bowl trash all the boutiques - I think they are all similar, just see which one you enjoy the most based on your interactions with the people during your interview process

I met some smart people from Putnam. The problem is that the salary is low compared to the industry average.
Putnam was acquired by UDG Healthcare in 2019 (UDG is a 9000+ person, publicly-traded organization that has grown via dozens of acquisitions).
As noted, Putnam now falls under Ashfield Advisory (a division of UDG Healthcare).
The acquisition and integration into Ashfield/UDG is likely to have changed dynamics in what is now Putnam.
