Account Management

Thoughts on putting the creative team on emails to clients? I have a new boss who does this and this is not something I’m used to.

Depends on how the client is for me. If they’re articulate in their feedback and it’s a straightforward project, that’s cool. If they’re not those things, I leave off creatives. A big part of account’s job is to watch out for people’s feelings and egos.

yep! I think a nice solve is putting creative leadership instead of everyone. This way they (CD level and above) can handle their team

I NEVER put creatives on emails to clients. Never. My job to help facilitate those conversations. Not let them unfold over an inbox thread.

Depends on the creatives. I’ve worked with some who don’t mind being on presentation recaps, etc because they’ve liked seeing the unfiltered feedback. And I’ve worked with some who want to be walled off from their emails, which is totally fine. No one size fits all. But as someone noted, it’d typically be CDs and above.

Almost always. The creative leads are my partners on the business. Why would I exclude them or hide information from them or possibly delay them seeing client feedback? We’re all adults and if we need to huddle up to discuss/interpret client comments we do that. Together .

Only in very unique circumstances. Otherwise you’re just blowing up creative inbox so they aren’t being creative and likely creating undue stress

Never - I have added ECD to client briefings but there is no way I would let an average AD or CW receive direct feedback or briefing from a client. That’s literally our job.

Depends on the email and client. Typically I only copy Creative Directors and above and that too only on very select communication that makes sense for them to be on, not everything.
