I’m not worried from a financial aspect of quitting my job. More so sitting around with no job due to corona affecting some companies hiring.
This makes zero sense. Quitting your job with nothing lined up lands you exactly into the issue you're supposedly focused on here: sitting around doing nothing while companies are affected by coronavirus in hiring
Same boat, but trying to hold off until I have a better idea of how corona will impact the economy and job market.

Don’t do it. Even if they lay you off/furlough you the boosted unemployment lasts only 4 months and averages to the equivalent of making 45k a year, at least in NY. Unless you’re in the medical field, TV entertainment, news, or Tech then it will be extremely difficult to find a job for the foreseeable future.
Don’t quit.
