We really need to stop normalizing ghosting. No one is that busy and it’s unprofessional. We’re all busy and we should respect each others time. It takes 30 seconds to write a rejection, even if it’s brief it’s better than nothing. If I stopped answering emails because I was busy, I’d be fired.
Thanks for this ACD2, spot on.
Reach out for sure! It’s on them that they ghosted, not you. Ghosting has become such a norm unfortunately, but it shouldn’t stop you from reaching back out. I wouldn’t mention the ghosting though, just ignore it otherwise it could make the recruiter uncomfortable and not respond.
Best of luck!
Do you have a compelling reason not to reach out?
None other that I don’t want them to remember or associate me as someone that they forgot easily or something
I agree! Ghosting doesnt feel good but its the norm. And when someone is a busy professional it unfortunately just happens sometimes. Doesnt mean they didnt like you or you werent a good fit. Maybe they just had other things at the time that were more important. I wouldnt let it keep you from reaching out again. Esp after so much time has passed
There’s never an advantage to applying cold. Expect to be ghosted again, but it can’t hurt to try.
Is it an internal recruiter or w/ a placement agency? If with placement agency I’d go straight to the company.
Internal recruiter unfortunately otherwise yes I would do that
Thanks everyone! Hate ghosting naturally but I’ll try and reach out that way still hearing all this
Do it!
You should absolutely reach out. Not sure how it normalizes ghosting. Maybe once they hire you you can have a one off with this person and let them know it’s not cool ;).
