Thoughts on remote employees? What trends are you guys seeing? Are there specific agencies or companies that are moving to this structure, or at least open to the idea?

Remote is the future and 99% of companies are stuck in the past.

Our agency will be fully remote. That’s our entire busietss plan. Rather then forcing brick and mortar spaces we’ve invested in things like soho works and also doing pop ups or company trips.

Everything is heading in that direction. My agency is a mix of remote and in-office employees across the country and the set-up is perfect. Most of our meetings are calls and we use Skype to connect in real-time outside of meetings. I love having the option to work from the office or at home on any given day depending on my schedule and it makes a huge difference when we’re working long hours. It’s also more cost effective for employers.

I’m happy to hear this and completely agree with you about the benefits. I’ve been remote for 3.5 years (but with the agency for a total of 8). I’m feeling the need for a change, but I want to keep telecommuting (with some travel, ideally). It’s hard to tell from online searches which agencies are open to this. Do you suggest I start reaching out and include this information in my cover letter, asking them if they’re open to hiring remote employees?

The law firm I work at is pretty old school and set in the president & managing partner’s ways and my boss was admittedly skeptical of someone working remotely. Maybe remote employees are not such a common concept at law firms? (I’m the first and currently only employee in the history of the company to do so) After 3 years now, he has been thoroughly pleased at the results and has opened his eyes to the possibility of others in the future!

My association is mostly remote. We have about 40 employees across the nation and 1 in London. Only about 8 people work in the main office and they can work there as they please.

I’ve been having a hard time during the pandemic WFH. I’ve been diagnosed with major depression & anxiety. I don’t interact much with others for work and have been able to keep this to myself. We have yr end reviews coming up. I know it will be a bad one for me. I’ve invested in 2x/week therapy (at a financial loss) to improve my health. I’m feeling better. Is there anything that a staff could do/say at reviews that would cause you to give them a 2nd chance? I love it here and want to improve.
