thoughts on taking a job you’re unsure about? On paper the job is good but it doesn’t check some key boxes which is why I’m unsure. But then again, I know no job is perfect…

It’s true you won’t know until you’re in that situation. For me I had a bad feeling when I signed my offer letter and that never changed.
I regret every single day and it’s not a good way to live.

If you’re leaving a job for it, then trust your gut.

If you’re unemployed, what have you got to lose? Give it 3 months and move on if still no good. Always good to say yes when the opportunity arises to learn more.

Hello! I’ve been working as a photographer for 15 years both as an employee and a freelancer. I started working full time with my current company a year ago. They’ve just offered me a new position: Creative Services Manager (in house for 4 related brands). I have no official experience in this field and had never heard of it before but feel like it will essentially be a creative director. I will also maintain the photography duties for the time being. Any idea what salary I should ask for?

Hello, I have 4 years of experience between Financial decision support and pricing. However, I feel like my experience is too narrowed to how my current company operates. I am looking to pivot into consulting at one of the big4 ( for ~2-3 years)or any other consulting firm to have a well rounded experience that could be applicable to any industry. Any advices ?or thoughts ?

Thinking of pivoting (in the next few years) from a big4 consulting firm making decent money to something more meaningful (to me) and hands-on but maybe seen as “lower”. I’m willing and able to go back to school or relocate for a new career, and as long as I can pay bills & save some, money isn’t a huge deal to me.

Some (def not all) ideas I’m spitballing:
Forestry services
Bartender
Mechanic
EMT
Seasonal work in national parks
Pilot
Electrician
Radiology tech

Talk me into/out of it!

Hey there, so I have a question, in need of advice. I was hired for my role at my company - they combined two roles for me. Now, I'm a good bit in to the role and I've realized that I really don't like the SEO side of things as much - and they are pushing for me to have more responsibilities in that realm; when I actually want to more so develop on the content editor side, how do I go about this conversation with my managers and higher ups?

I just accepted an offer as a Web Developer for a great company. After 20 years in the restaurant I went to a coding bootcamp in March and am so happy to find a job one month after graduating.

I'm now very nervous about passing my background check. I have two DUI's, one in 2005 and one in 2015. I have never had a background check during my time in the restaurant industry.

Should I be worried? Should I let the hiring manager know beforehand so there are no surprises? Please help!

I’ve been working in marketing/advertising for a few years now, and I would love to move into something internal where I can utilize the organizational, process driven skills I’ve honed over the years in account management. Ive had others suggest moving into a project or resource management role in either tech or corporate construction— wondering if anyone here does that and could chat with me about their day to day.

Just looking for suggestions, I am interested in operations roles and have been learning some coding on the side as well. Been in sales for about 3 years currently at a data science platform company. I don’t see many opportunities to transition in house, what is a good route?
