“I have been wearing a mask when in public, doing errands, etc. I’m not sure how being considerate to others for the common good is now being mocked by some who are calling it “living in fear”, but it needs to stop.... When I wear a mask over my nose and mouth in public and in the stores/Supermarkets/Pharmacies/Offices - I want you to know the following: 🌺😷I'm educated enough to know that I could be asymptomatic and still give you the virus. 🌺😷No, I don't "live in fear" of the virus; I just want to be part of the solution, not the problem. 🌺😷I don't feel like the "government controls me". I feel like I'm an adult contributing to the security in our society and I want to teach others the same. 🌺😷If we could all live with the consideration of others in mind, the whole world would be a much better place. 🌺😷Wearing a mask doesn't make me weak, scared, stupid or even "controlled". It makes me caring and responsible. 🤔When you think about your appearance, discomfort, or other people's opinion of you, imagine a loved one - a child, mother, father, grandparent, aunt, uncle or even a stranger - placed on a ventilator, alone without you or any family member allowed at their bedside.....Ask yourself if you could have helped them a little by wearing a mask. As they say in Hawaii, it’s #OurKuleana”

I think that’s totally valid - no one should be shamed or harassed for wearing a mask or taking steps to make themselves or others safer. But there seems to be an unbridgeable gap between people who think wearing a mask is a big imposition and people (myself included) who really just don’t. This week’s news should make a lot of the mask-shaming 🐠 rethink things. Nothing wrong with continuing to be cautious given how much we still have to learn about this virus.

Consultant 1 - stop being so extreme. The choice isn’t to never wear masks, or wear them until the end of time. No one is saying that, NO ONE. Literally it is the best way, right now, with the vaccine hesitancy (another whole post), to reduce community spread.

@ED1 - NO ONE said 16 months ago that we’d still be masking and locking down in august of 2021. And yet here we are. At best, our public health officials don’t have an effective plan (or can’t execute it). At worst, they’re straight up being dishonest: Covid won’t spread to the US. Masks don’t make a difference. We’ll only have to lockdown for two weeks. Everything will go back to normal once we have the vaccine. We’ll only have to mask up until the delta variant goes away. Pretty sure this won’t end there. There’s another option: go back to normal and take whatever personal precautions are right for you.

It’s a very simple question that no one can answer. How long and under what specific rubric do we need to wear masks. Currently it feels like whatever and at the discretion of the CDC. The general population is not okay with wearing masks in public indefinitely, even if that means increased covid impacts. Honestly, I tend to agree. If I was a 15 year old kid being told to wear a mask everywhere forever I would be pretty pissed. Especially given the vaccine works.

C1 understands my point. We need to clear rubric on what we are trying to achieve.

Don’t shame people for wearing or not wearing masks. Do what you’re comfortable with and get on with life.

Masking up for the rest of time isn’t “being part of the solution.”

No…I’m suggesting that we, as the CDC recommends, continue masking during the pandemic. Why do you talk in hyperbole?

That’s a load of propaganda IMO. Masks are marginally effective at best, and should have never been required.

Just let people wear their freaking masks. Live your own dumb life. (Not aimed at you, OP.)

I agree with all of the points posted by OP. It’s how I’m approaching masking as well.

Honestly I think a portion of the population (ex elderly) should wear masks forever to not only protect themselves against covid in the short term but to protect themselves against the flu and future viruses in the long term. I don’t want to wear a mask (forever or even now) but I have no ill will against anyone that wants to. You do you!

You won't wear a mask FOREVER? I think you mean until when you are also an "elderly"

I’m currently working at a law firm in San Diego specializing in coastal property rights as a litigation paralegal and legal assistant. We received a minute order from a preliminary injunction hearing. Our client was ordered to post an injunction bond of $2,500. First our client walked to the courthouse to try to pay the bond up front, but they would not accept his money. He tried to call several bond companies, but all said the amount was too small. So how do you post an injunction bond?

Thoughts on Grey NY health teams (I know everyone has mixed feelings on pharma in general) specifically the account departments?

Any tech recruiters in here? My wife has just completed her MS in Cybersecurity and has been working in UHC for 10 years, currently a research analyst. She has been literally carrying every department she has been promoted to with the highest reviews. She’s yet to break the ceiling even with a BA in Healthcare Admin.. So, she is hoping to find an opportunity that merges Cybersecurity and healthcare. What opportunities do you guys have either remote or in middle Georgia?

Hi fellow immigrants. My partner and I are in the process of getting a visa, and we need an agent and as many contacts as possible for intent letters. Anyone that can offer some help? What are realistic career paths for BDRs that do not want to be an account executive? I have been a BDR for 4 years now and looking to get out of sales but unsuccessful so far . I’ve interviewed for social media roles, BDR manager roles , always falling short on what they are looking for. Beginning to think I’ll just have to accept a career that I hate that brings me no passion and try for AE role. My ideal role would be in product marketing or social. Any advice?
