Ad school for me was a place to build a strong network and have set time to concept and create campaigns.
I went to CC. Dan Balser is amazing and there are some good classes but it doesn't radically make you a better ad person. Most that have gone on to be very successful, stood out from the very beginning (the others are just white dudes)
Better than MAS
Some excellent professors, some less than excellent ones. Over all, you get out what you put in. I had an amazing time because I put in the work.
The biggest draw is the network - the community we have is super, super duper tight. We have people at every major agency, in every city, all at the ready to assist you or get you drunk.
loved my time there, dm if you have any questions
All of em' are better than the Chicago Portfolio School
One year is not enough time to make a solid book.
Thanks for the thoughts, I graduated from undergrad in May, and I did my first 2 years in political science, the transferred to another school since they had a creative advertising program, but I feel 2 years wasn't enough, and it wasn't 100% a portfolio school. They had a good program, but I feel in order to get where I want to be, I need an extra push, so I've been looking into MAS and CC, don't know which one is more convenient for me. P.S I want to be a copywriter, and a good one.
Honestly VCU Brandcenter is probably the best. But of the two listed Circus has a more consistent reputation. I’ve heard the quality of MAS varies wildly by location.
I loved MAS, I think with most schools it depends on the teachers you get, and how much work you’re willing to do. MAS teaches you the NOW, rather than academic subjects that worked 5 years ago
