The two main factors that determined whether a school district opened in-person were the level of support in the district for Donald Trump in 2016 and the strength of teachers’ unions. A third factor, with a much smaller impact, was the amount of competition a school district faces from private schools, in particular Catholic schools.

She is brave, she is resilient and she did everything a mother could do to protect her children from a toxic environment. I am glad she overcame the suicidal thoughts , that must have been so difficult. Harry was finally saved from the palace, I wish them well.

totally agree the royal fam is messed up in many ways (obvi the racism) but feel like there’s so much more to it than meghan & harry’s side of the story. don’t think they are 100% innocent

So much for her wanting to be out of the spotlight! That’s all she’s done since she left the crown. She has an agenda and it sucks that she’s destroyed William and Harry’s relationship.

Classic abusive relationship, with the royal family as the abusers. So glad that Harry and Meghan have each other and were strong enough to escape and rebuild their lives.
For everyone saying, didn't she know what she was getting into? Oh come on. Do you also say that to every person who's been in an abusive relationship? And how frightening it must have been to be at the mercy of a powerful institution that works with a merciless media, controls the purse strings, and security.
I’ll also add that in the transcript of Diana’s interview (linked below) she admits to having post-natal depression and when asked what treatment she received, she responded with “I received a great deal of treatment”. There seems to be precedent for royals getting depression treatment, but you know, what does it matter. Meghan is our Lord and Savior, and her words are 10000000% the gospel truth.....obviously.

Why are people so mad about a public figure making money off being a public figure? Y’all if I could do that, you know how fast I’d be setting up interviews?? She strikes me as a smart lady with a smart team.
Can’t comment on what was discussed, but if her interview brings more scrutiny to a problematic, racist media, isn’t that a good thing? And at the end of the day, it’s not like they’re taking shots at an innocent/less powerful entity, I think the royal family will be okay. The whole prince Andrew thing?? We know shady sh*t has been going on
No she didn’t. I meant the capitalizing on her status as a public figure through other avenues and how an interview generating a tons of buzz is a good way to help those other avenues. Not saying that’s why she did the interview either, but it is a great added benefit. I was trying to point out that it’s silly for people on this app to criticize her & Harry for doing what public figures do.
Like if I can share my story, call out racists, AND consequently generate buzz around my other ventures? That’s a solid Monday morning in my book. No reason she can’t have all three.

Megan has received more criticism from how much she touches her bump to her parents than even Charles & Camilla who cheat before, during & after their respective marriages.
The Royal family has & will always be messy. The Firm & the UK Press is just mad that they can’t control them.

I would disagree in that Charles & Camilla have faced huge backlash from how they have behaved and their affair. And the way Charles acts, in general - he seems pretty wimpy. They just aren’t very interesting anymore, especially now that they are married. Camilla is not interesting nor beautiful unlike Kate and Meghan. Not sure if anyone over in Britain (including the Queen) really wants Prince Charles to be King. There was a lot of talk about the Queen asking Charles to abdicate the throne and pass on to William, who is respected and loved. But Prince Charles has said he will not abdicate, is my understanding.
To me the royalty in England is exceedingly interesting, especially over the last 1000 years. I hope the royalty can continue. The external assaults “from family members” don’t help their cause.
I’m indifferent about Meghan Markle in general, but believe she has been mistreated by the British press and the royal family. So I’m glad they did the interview to call it out. Sadly, people who want to hate Meghan and Harry will be impervious to a different perspective.

Meaghan v. Kate- does anyone else besides me think that who made who cry over two years ago because of kid’s dresses give a crap? Geesh, that is ancient history and so trivial. For any bride that has ever had a large wedding, your emotions are high and there is bound to be something that makes you cry. I can’t believe that this was part of a “bombshell” interview that was broadcast to the world. 🙄. Who gives a shxx.
I mean the interview was Sunday and you must still give a shxx if you are still complaining.

I don’t follow the royals drama as closely as some but have been reading the feedback from the interview and was talking to my husband about it. Honestly, he said Harry is also to blame because he maybe could have done a better job setting expectations. I think I also read that Meghan didn’t “google” Harry before marrying him which I guess fine but why wouldn’t you google before you marry someone so you get a basic understanding of who you’re signing up for “life” with.
But yeah thought it was interesting not many people are blaming Harry in this situation and it took my husband pointing it out to me to realize that Harry is also to blAme.

She said she did not google cause she was friends with prince Harry’s cousin at the time and met him through said cousin. This was all addressed in the interview. I feel like all the negative comments here attacking her are from people who did not watch it in its entirety. Oprah asked all the right questions
I was indifferent at first, but the more I thought of it, the more I think the vague innuendos were destructive and I’m not sure if they are playing the long game: when you claim something as damning as racism, to not follow up with a specific name makes the whole monarchy guilty instead of the person who said it. It’s a very sneaky and calculated thing to do. Shit or get off the pot. Name names or keep quiet. They made it near impossible for the monarchy to go anywhere with that. That is not a smart move in the long run. In general, those two came off as entitled and ungrateful for the life they DO have. So the monarchy wasn’t a good fit. Got it. Move and and live a great life - it’s the best revenge. They came across as angels-turned- victims-turned self made heroes of their own carefully crafted story. There are 40MM slaves in the world today with real problems...
What names do you suggest she name, is it not clear what she’s saying? She’s been very forthright and much more transparent than Harry.
They both talked positively about the Queen and Harry said he talks to her often. Isn’t she in charge of the institution? If not, who is actually running the show? You’d think if they have that relationship with her why didn’t she step in. And if they went to her and she refused to help, why would they still talk to her. I’m left wondering who is really in charge of the monarchy.
I think it’s very odd how “shocked” they are that the royals would be racist af..their entire kingdom was built on pillaging entire nations for wealth and power. His FAMILY did that, his family is still doing that.
