Charles Aris sells job search services. Their data has likely been manipulated to provide only the most positive exit op data points (so as to entice folks to buy their services), though I don't have insider information that confirms this.
While plausible, I doubt this. More likely the data is skewed upward because their clientele comprise mostly ex-MBB.
I worked with CA a number of times though my exit was through network referral. I usually answer comp questions with “in line with your data” and expectations with “prefer to be higher on all counts BC/TC, though will take TC overall if the BC isn’t too far off. “ I defined TC as base and bonus for better comparison but will consider signing bonus, equity plus refreshes, and profit sharing. Ultimately it’ll come down to individual positions and companies but the more data you have to use, the better off you’ll be.
Not for MBB
It’s a little on the low side for MBB but not wildly off.
Oh yeah it aligned almost perfectly with the consulting comp. just not the exit.
I participated in this survey and chat often with CA about exits. I answered truthfully, as I hope others did as well.
As a data point: I’m 3 years out of UG and my base is $171k with bonus potential between $20-60k.
Consulting comp is fairly accurate - to be clear it’s geared towards strategy consulting and the business schools are target schools. Exits depend on industry/sector and how you communicate your value/negotiate.
