8,000 people in the US have died of the flu this season, 150k hospitalized. And you’re asking about the corona virus?
ZS1 - that is absolutely untrue. You do not need to receive treatment, just like many (maybe most) people who have the flu never get any treatment. In fact, most people with the flu who have healthy immune systems are encouraged to stay home and not go to the doctor so as to not infect anyone else, it’s the exact same thing here. If you have a healthy immune system you can fight off this virus the same way. There are many people with the virus who are not at the hospital and will be just fine - this is simple math, the denominator is bigger than actually reported, thus the mortality rate should go down.
I didn’t say OP is silly or ignorant, I said their comments were. OP clearly has a fundamental misunderstanding of how viruses work, so yes, I actually would call that ignorant (the definition of ignorant is being uneducated about something, so I would say pretty spot on)
How many people in the US have been diagnosed? Your 5 hours would be better spent doing what you like to do.
It’s the real deal; highly contagious and undetectable for weeks. Follow good hygiene practices and use appropriate caution. A number of us have packed face masks in luggage; just in case.
Depends on what makes you wear, actually. Wear surgical masks with a filter or N95 masks. Paper single sheet masks and cosmetic design ones don't do anything.
Definitely drive! 5 hours / week is definitely worth not taking any chances, and the peace of mind that’ll come with it
Depends on where you are and where you are flying to
