I think it’s pretty tacky when it’s obvious. In my experience there’s always one attorney in the office who wears Chanel necklaces and Louboutin heels, and I can’t help but roll my eyes. In my opinion, stealth wealth (avoiding flashy labels or other signifiers) is the way to go if you want to invest money in nicer clothing and jewelry. That way, you’re less likely to remind non-attorneys about the office’s wage gap, and less likely to get robbed.
“Stealth wealth” - I love that. Flashy labels is so tacky.

There is a difference between nice and flashy. Don't be a brand flasher. Always look pulled together.
Dress according to your office norms. Our office has women with great style that isn’t about labels. You’ll see more bright characteristic pieces and we all tend to compliment each other. Usually if someone is extra polished we’d assume they’ve got a client meeting or court - I think we tend to encourage each other on this front.
Even the “comfortable dressers” wear cool flats and sweaters. Have your style and wear it with confidence! Encourage others in the office to do the same. Sometimes it just takes one woman wearing bright yellow heels to make everyone be bolder!
What kind of office do you work in, and how do you define “nicer”?
I rock my RTRs.... :)
