About to ask for a raise on Friday for the first time in my life! 28 yrs old and worked in the industry for 4 yrs before joining advisory in Jan. Also have an MBA. I'm in the field of operation/supply chain. Already did my research and have a number in mind. Interested in getting your thoughts on this. What do you think it's a reasonable number to pay someone with my background?
Who else needs a drink(s) right now?
Also tempted....Guelph, London, Barrie, Peterborough, etc.
Yeah , beautiful townships and very affordable !
It’s going to be flexible, you get to choose to come in or not. However some clients may prefer for people to come in. I would say it’s a safe bet to go to a lower COL until end of year for sure
We are thinking of holing up somewhere in PEC
Wine country !

definitely think more remote work will be part of the new normal. I’m looking for places that will give me a fairly easy access downtown (e.g. 1 hour or less on GO or TTC) but also are decent communities on their own where I can afford some decent space.

Nice M1! I was looking at areas on the East End, really eyeing Pickering and maybe Whitby with the GO station development out there

yes, thinking to move away from Yonge/Bloor.. I don't know why I am here, and why I am paying so much rent.
Me too! I’ve been looking for a 4 season place on a lake somewhere.
Erie North Shore is coming along as a wine region but it will never be Muskoka/Kawartha, you're right. More likely a poor man's PEC in a few years.
Gonna take that FAANG led paycut?
Absolutely, commute times and COL in the GTA are atrocious. I’d take a pay cut to live somewhere I actually want to
Depends on your timeframe. If it's over 6-12 months, you're probably okay, but if you're making a long-term investment such as buying a house, that could be risky.
A long term shift in working patterns is far from guaranteed despite all the people treating it as a foregone conclusion right now.

I love how the company in the article pays people different amounts for the same work, using a black box formula that doesn't account for the actual market value/revenue generation from the work product, yet still somehow manages to brand this practice in terms of 'fairness' to colleagues.
