4 people in my office were previously associates there. I've heard nothing but bad things. If you are a woman, stay away.

Just one person's experience of being treated very unfairly as a woman by the firm. It could be a limited instance, but hearing about it definitely turned me off.

I've worked there. Depends which office you're in and which team you're on, but if it is NYC then you will most likely get some interesting work (think: high exposure construction accidents instead of sidewalk soft tissue cases).

I think the salary is comparatively low to some other players in, for example, the NYC ID market. A 5th year at the firm can expect a salary no higher than $130k and that may actually be generous. But monthly bonuses are nice. For example if you bill 200 hours in a month, the next month you get a separate direct deposit for $600. End of year you can count on a bonus/raise package between 10k and 20k if you have a few years under your belt.

The culture is fine. Hit your billables and do good work and you'll be left alone. But it is a revolving door. Plenty of associates go to WEMED for a year or two and then get plucked by firms willing to pay another 20-30k to steal you away. Happened to me.

like

Things have definitely changed since I was there in 2012. I was med mal and made to feel terrible for making 100k. There were no monthly bonuses for 200 hours and my group was just awful.

I had a friend who was an associate there in the early aughts and she said she developed an eye twitch from the stressful culture there. And we were working at a pretty hellish midsize ID firm at the time so the fact that she thought WEMED was worse was telling to me. But that was a long time ago.

I worked there from 2017-2019, it’s really team/partner specific. I had a great team and it was a really positive experience for me. I had a really steady work flow but never anything crazy, got a ton of hands on experience, and had a lot of interesting cases. I was there when they started doing the monthly incentives, which were awesome. Also depending on your partner and how much they fight for you, you can get much better bonuses than other comparable firms.

The attorneys are super friendly and supportive HR on the other hand is a no. The head of HR for NYC will force you to take sick days rather than work from home and has a bias against Asian/Indians. Once you can get past having to work through any and every situation such as train issues and or a random issue.

Some Partners in my office left there to start their own firm. Never heard anything positive about Wilson Elser

like

i’ve been there for over a year. i was able to get out of the car accident cases and focus almost exclusively on commercial litigation. never had any issues exceeding billable hours and they have been generous with monthly bonuses for exceeding the minimum. wemed let me take a month off to take care of family issues with no blowback and even more work when i got back. there is high turnover and i think i could def be making more at similar firms but it’s a good place to be for now.

How hard is everyone pushing their corporate clients to authorize nonresident assignees whose only 2020 US compensation was the value of their 2019 tax preparation?
My clients are pushing back on it this year, and I can't say I blame them. If I were in their shoes, I'd rather take the risk of not filing than the expense of filing again. From my own point of view, I don't really want to spend my time on such returns, either, even if the revenue and easy return are nice.

There’s an opportunity to step up into the role of Director of Product, but I’ve only got 2.5 years of experience and am already being paid below average by like 15%. I’ve accepted this because A. My company has historically underpaid people but I still like the people and B. My lack of experience. I think a promotion would come with a raise, but the percentage difference would most likely only grow and I’m not sure that would be ok with the responsibilities I’d be stepping into. Any advice?

TCS Hr revised my ctc to 27.5lpa from 24lpa for C3A band & shared ctc break up. I negotiated asking him to revise the fixed comp to 26lpa & JB. He said that he would try for fixed comp of 26lpa but no JB. Later he came back saying he can't get an approval for 28lpa & asking me if I'm okay with 24lpa & he would try to get 24lpa also if possible. Is he trying to get the ctc down or does he can't get approval? How do I get him to give the 27.5lpa break up offer? YOE:9y6m Role:Infra ManagerTata Cons
