Thoughts - would you feel comfortable traveling to work onsite for a client project in June or July (driving distance, no planes)? I wouldn’t as I have serious chronic conditions but am curious what the general consensus is right now.

Thank goodness others feel this way. Some folks in an area with 40k+ cases were talking about possibly going into a client. I think they’re nucking futs.

Beyond consultants, i don’t even think clients want to go back anytime soon. I KNOW they didn’t spend all of march scrambling updating their servers and scrambling for extra laptops only to go back to the office 3 months later

Don’t plan to travel this year

All of my colleagues I’ve spoken to don’t want to go until end of year. Some have said they won’t venture out until there is a vaccine. You’re not alone in being cautious, especially with some of the lingering issues being so serious (blood clots, inflammatory issues in kids, recurrence etc).

Remote teleconferencing, drones only.

I personally would feel comfortable doing it, but think it would be a bad business decision and prefer not to travel.

I would be comfortable

Yeah, I have to go next month, and I’m in Los Angeles

Nope

Depends on what country you're in. I'm cool down here in NZ. We are mostly back now.

We moved "Level 1" on Monday night... that means no restrictions other than the borders are still closed to outsiders. Returning Kiwis are put in mandatory quarantine upon arrival for 14 days (basically they are locked away in a hotel in Auckland).

We have no active cases, and have had no new cases for about 3 weeks now.

I'm back in the office, but there are less people in the CBD than usual. Even my train is not as full.

Kids went back to school 3 weeks ago (thank god), but winter school holidays are coming up starting on July 6. I bet after kids return from school holidays, we will mainly be back to normal with the exception of tourism. That is a huge part of our economy and it's going to be a long while until that comes back.

I’m fine traveling... we’ve flattened the curve

Any tips? Dealing with resourcing issues for one of our largest clients. We have enough hours, just waiting for more experienced team members to be hired to complete it. We’ve also borrowed from other teams, but it doesn’t cover up the fact we could be getting the work done faster with the right team. Advice for dealing with the client?

Any good recommended books on how to build a scalable product and team? I've been promoted into a management role from Dev roots, so need to learn more PM processes to be an effective manager in day job, plus would like to start building my own SaaS solution.

I’m trying to figure out what I’m worth. I’m a director / editor who works directly in-house at an agency. I’ve directed several (roughly one a month) broadcast spots in the last year for a national fast food client and I’ve also edited those spots among editing other random national spots in-between. The production budgets range from roughly 200k-500k per shoot depending on how many days it is. I get paid 75k yearly which is feeling pretty low when I do the math. Is that fair?

I remember when I first started working on my thesis project. My adviser asked me to get some funding for it, but he didn't give me any advice about how to do that. He just told me that if I wanted money for my project, I'd have to go through some kind of committee process and submit an application for funding from them. Sure enough, after weeks of writing applications and waiting around for responses from the committee members (who were always too busy), I eventually got approved for funding!
