Thoughts/suggestions on types of jobs that are *not* paralegal jobs, but that my paralegal degree & experience could be beneficial?
I’m so burnt out from law that I’m starting to think I need to do something else. I can’t keep handling the constant stress from having to do my attorney’s job for them since they’re too scatterbrained to handle most of it themself.
Following and same. I do my job, their job and 15 other hats. There’s a fire every day to put out “drop everything and do this” and I can feel myself stroking out soon. We need more staff but people either don’t show up to their interview or get the job and flake.
I’ve only been in the field for about 4 years but this firm has been the busiest I’ve ever been.
I handle every aspect of the cases except appearing in court/on phone calls. My attorney is a great person to work for, understanding and nice and all that good stuff. It’s just so much work for one person to handle that I’m constantly drowning.
I would think that maybe Operations or Project Manager position would be doable with your skill set. Maybe not for firms, but tech/major companies that would be a easier transition from a firm!
If you have edisvovery experience there are always legal project manager postings or even in house. I've been a paralegal for 20 years and went in house 5 months ago and took a massive paycut, but I miss being in a firm so I may look to get back into a firm.
Following bc same, esp at my last job. Thankfully, I switched firms about 9 mos. ago and it has been a much lighter work load ever since and I'm making a lot more money. However, I'm still burning out of law and cannot handle the stress it adds to my life.
Try getting into compliance.
Do you have experience in transactional law? I've seen postings for positions like Contracts Administrator, where you manage the contract database and make sure things are getting signed on time and by correct parties.
I do not, I’ve only done PI lit, WC lit, probate & estate planning so nothing with transactional unfortunately.
Project Coordinator, executive assistant, office manager.
I have been in project coordination for the past 8 years and switched to paralegal a year and a half ago.
I’ve been a paralegal for 4 years, have a bachelors in paralegal studies and live in Ohio.
