Wow ABC is dumber than usual. Umm maybe because everyone here drives and many people live in single family homes, while NY has a mass transportation system and tightly packed apartment buildings? Doesn’t seem like rocket science to me
Your party invited has been rescinded 👋
It probably has more to do with commuter habits. Californians aren't in crowded subways and share less recycled air given the milder weather. If you look at the heat maps of where the volume is the two states shouldn't be compared as equal.

Not sure what your point is. NYC is way more dense, has way more people in close contact (4m on public transportation), and more people living closely together. It’s many times more than SF, and don’t even need to mention LA where nearly everyone drives

Wouldn’t surprise me if it had been around for a while before we knew it. I caught a really nasty fever with major breathing issues in early January when I was in California (swab tested negative for flu).
But on the flip side, I have asthma so any flu could lead to breathing issues and the doctor said my swab could have been a false negative.
This is so strange. I had the same issue when I was in San Antonio this past January.
This is interesting. I had a flu shot, but was quite sick in mid- January and early March 2019. Both times I had a horrendous dry cough that lasted for weeks, along with a low-grade fever. No aches or cold chills though.
Even when I felt better, the cough still hung around for a few more weeks. Anti-biotic’s did nothing for me. I also got something similar back in November 2019.
I travel a lot and just put it down to that, but several of my Calif Santa Clara Valley co-workers were hit pretty hard too.

Same here, got the flu shot in Sept, but was really sick for two weeks, dry cough + low grade fever the first week of Jan
so it might actually be the California/American Virus? oop- 😳🤭😷
