McKinsey & Company Has Mckinsey met BA headcount quota for the year/did they freeze hiring? I interviewed and got to last round last year, and applied again with a referral two months ago but haven’t heard anything from recruiting. Last year I heard back within 1 month of referral drop. I would’ve thought with my 1 more year of experience I should be able to get an interview easily.🥲 McKinsey & Company

Just left Deloitte and had the same situation going on. At the end of the day you have to do what is best for you. I gave an extra week of notice because I felt bad so I ended up doing three instead of two weeks. Wish I had done a month. See how far you can push out your new offer and dedicate more time if you'd like. At the end of the day though, we're all replaceable.
I did this (gave a months notice due to similar situation) and my team rewarded me with late nights + working me to the very last minute. At the end of the day, you have to live with your decision so follow your gut.
FWIW I don’t regret being considerate of my team.

If you died tomorrow, your company would list a job opening before your body was cold.
Don't feel guilty; the nature of your relationship is that you provide work in exchange for a salary. Two weeks notice is the accepted Norm, your team will be fine.
From first hand experience I know KPMG definitely doesn't move that fast 🤣
2 weeks notice
2 weeks notice. They will manage, they always do.

2 Weeks! When Deloitte lays their employees off, they give them 24hrs.

Look at this well connected employee. Most people got 2 hours before everything shut down

I’m just tryna match this energy the rest of the day…
You can feel bad about your team, but don’t feel bad about the firm or Partner. After 9 years with the firm I left and the firm clawed back $20k of a prior retention bonus because it fell in the middle of my two weeks notice. It felt so petty considering I’d delivered Sales of over $20M a year (delivery of $7-$8M) for the prior few years. At the end of the day they have no loyalty and you’re a number until you’re a Partner.

Deloitte is wild for that! But you could have stayed a few weeks. Either way you are happy now
GO! Everyone else did. You don’t owe anyone more by staying.
If you dropped dead tomorrow they would send out a condolences email and forget about your existence in a couple days.
Treat them with the same regard.
Nothing. I remember a Deloitte partner putting considerable amount of effort to ensure I didn't get my certification bonus (couple hundred $$) when I left. Take that extra week to rest and start prepping for your next job

That’s just depressing to hear - I hope that partner is getting the help they need
Two weeks notice. In this situation I would keep giving 100% until the end because I like my team but Daddy D don’t care about you so move on to the next thing and don’t think too much about it. It’s their fault for consistently failing in workforce planning.

A job is a transaction. Work for pay. Two weeks will suffice.

Just leave, they will be fine without you. Many times folks think they are irreplaceable and over value their contribution (just run before your SM leaves). Do a proper KT, that should be sufficient.
My level of commitment:
I recently gave 2 weeks notice and received mixed reactions. It’s a true character test. Some partners behave strange while others are happy for me. I can’t care less for the resentful ones as they don’t care about me whatsoever. 🤷♂️
Do what’s right for you. Don’t bother what people say or think. You don’t owe anybody any explanation and your actions should be governed based on what’s right for you. Remember everything is ephemeral.
Do what’s in your best interest. A few considerations:
1. Does the company care when you are sick, overworked, work extended hours, sacrifice work for personal life? In most cases, this is a “no”.
2. Do you work for yourself or care about the people around you? I like the comment which someone above “If you were to die, they will forget you in a jiffy”. Why should you care about it?
3. You should think about what you will gain by taking up a new job? Think about taking some time off and enjoying your life. Consulting is highly demanding and we ought to find a balance.
It’s always a perfect time for a great opportunity. Just leave and don’t overthink
No offense, but I’ve been in consulting a long time… it sucks every time someone leaves at first but most groups move on and forget people within 30 days. Other than the economic collapse… since 2010 I haven’t really seen a downturn in consulting and we’re almost always understaffed. There will never be a great time to move on… and sadly you’re probably not going to be missed as much as you think you will be.
Yea, sounds like a they problem.
