I like to split tasks up so I'm doing the same thing over and over rather than having my attention split amongst many things. So if I'm checking for 4 different things, check all of the 1st thing across all slides, then 2nd, and so on. Also to-do lists. So many to-do lists

Imagine your life is an excel formula triple before hitting enter the first 500k times and eventually it'll become first nature. Also, write down everything EVERYTHING you need to do or say you will do.

Vyvanse. Proofreading things by reading them out loud. Zoom out document to 45% to see formatting differences

Checklists written or mental to always check the same things. Fonts, style whatever needs checking. Forms a habit

Slow down. Check your work. Take meticulous notes.

I had trouble with this my first year at the firm. Try making review checklists. Printing and self reviewing copies of decks before reviewing with manager also helps. You can't be lazy for either of these

Work with me, you'll improve real quick

For things like decks or important/long emails, read them out loud to yourself. Even if spellcheck didn't catch any errors, you could still be missing words or use the wrong form of a word. For numbers, calculate twice and write it down only after you confirmed it the second time. For overall organization, use a combination of a written checklist as well as calendar reminders to stay on top of deadlines and even the littlest to-do items. Don't be afraid to ask a peer or manager to review big deliverables because a second set of eyes can find a lot of things you didn't catch.

It is incredibly tedious, but for something important I recommend printing it and reading it out loud to yourself, with a blank page to only allow you to read the line you are on. Reading it out loud makes you go slower and you'll be able to hear if something doesn't sound right. When you're just reading, you can subconsciously fill in the right word and not catch the mistake

Thanks guys. For me the main issue is numbers - esp when I've been staring at a spreadsheet doing calculations for hours

This is totally number. Try to look away from comp screen every 20 min. Print to review. Also, give yourself enough time to step away from it for a few hours and then review again. I'd like to think that nobody is immune to making number mistakes after hours in excel. At least I am now so you are not alone! In this instance, when possible, pacing yourself for multiple drafts and reviews with chunks of time in between is a great help.
