I interviewed with Firm A months ago and accepted a position to start this upcoming fall. Group leader called me to offer the position back in November 2020. Besides interviewing with partners at the firms, and diligent follow ups notifying them of my interest to get started, no communication has transpired since. It turns out that I accepted a better offer w/ Firm B for personal reasons and won’t be going to Firm A. What is the best way to notify Firm A? Call/email group leader? Call/email HR?

Received an offer as Engagement Director from Salesforce (CSG, pre sales, L9). Great benefits package, 40% increase in total comp and better WLB.
I do love the people in my practice and current client, but career trajectory has stalled after taking parental leave earlier this year and (yet another) change in leadership.
Realistically, making to Director is 2-3 years away and will require sacrificing time with my family that I am not prepared to give up.
Should I stay or should I go?

95% of the time senior title in industry doesn’t mean a supervisory role, it just denotes more experience or makes candidates feel better.
You’ll have to evaluate what is a dead end by looking at the composure and tenure of the group, asking about advancement opportunities, if the company will continue to grow etc
Great point, thanks!
It’s also worthwhile to know yourself. What specific to you skills are you bringing to the table? Will your work speak for itself? Not supervising others doesn’t make a role dead end, if you’re in a good company your work will be recognized and your leadership will want to create a position that takes advantage of all your skills.
