EY 3 knows what’s up 😂

Aim for the 2nd highest tier. The highest tier will get you 1k extra maybe 2k max, at the associate level. Plus the added workload and stress of being in the highest performance tier isn’t worth it. Coming from a Tier 1 former PwCer and Significantly Above Standard EYer.

Try to answer your own questions first. Seek help early when needed. Come with solution options to your problems and don’t dump them on people. Learn the big picture of what you’re assigned to and how it fits together.

Honestly, once I started in the corporate world, I was astonished at how many people just don’t want to be a top performer, everyone will say they want to be, but very few do any extra things. My advice would be, identify those extra things (depending on your current level etc) however, keep in mind, especially in a firm, once you raise your hand to do extra to be a top performer you will sacrifice a lot of time

From a Tier 1 PwC'er: Don't do anything without thinking about it. You're thinking will show, and you will improve much faster.

If your at EY just breathe and be here longer than a year.

Forgo sleep and increase caffeine intake. Not the healthiest but you’ll probably have to sacrifice your health at some point to be in that top percent

💩 👃

Never say no, eat hours if you have to but be on time and on budget, and brown-noise, but in a subtle way. Sounds ridiculous but just those basic things and you will be a top performer.

What do you do with a Staff with ~1 year exp that legit won’t work. For example, you give them a simple task at 10am that should take 3 hours max, they ignore your check-in messages and then ask if they can give it you in the morning. They never ask questions. Morning comes and they still didn’t do it. When they finally do it, it is riddled with errors and clearly shows they didn’t try. Working under tight deadlines, this staff is killing me as I cannot rely on them at all. What would you do?

After 6 years of temporary contracts and unstable situations, I find my dream job in my dream company. All of a sudden the world goes upside down and I get laid off. I start sending hundreds of applications, with only 2 recruiters getting back to me to say I don’t have experience for the job (this is how it works in Italy). Add a terrible health situation in my family and it seems there’s no light at the end of the tunnel. Ugh. 😞
