I live in a HCOL city and am still not being paid enough to save/live . I have all of the tools/ skill sets to leave consulting and go into big tech . Before going out to market myself and get a new job should I even ask D for a raise ? I’m frustrated because I’m adding a lot of value to my current engagements and I think I’d have a good business case for a raise. On a side note I see people leaving left and right here which is not a good sign!
With all this talk of A2 up for promotion to SA1, did anyone ask the question: why does PwC have so many underperforming SAs that campus recruits can come in and already lead at the next level?
Looks like I'm going to get passed up for a promotion this cycle - many of the reasons being things outside of my control. Finding it really difficult to stay motivated. Any words of wisdom or (cont.)
Replying All to an obvious mistake email should automatically make you ineligible for promotion.
Went from wanting to only focus on my career and not even wanting kids to now wanting to be a SAHM while I raise kids and go back into a more relaxed job. Has anyone else had a crazy shift in thinking like that? Been single this whole time, so no one is influenting this
Facing a career decision: do I take the pay raise, or the position that I'm more interested in?
A colleague shared with me the presentation they have prepared for their promotion case. I worked with them on multiple projects during the year and I can clearly see that some of the claims on the deck are wild exaggeration or lies. For example, managed changes in scope for Project X including contract changes. Plot twist: there never was a change of scope for Project X and the contract is exactly the same. How can people be so dishonest? How far can you go before truth catching up?
Where do y’all see the future of M7 going? In the next 20-30 years. Will there still be an M7 or will MBAs be obsolete as more and more elite companies do direct promotion? Will HSW still exist or will the value prop of a brand name be diminished a ton with the continuous rise of tech/AI, etc?
Considering leaving hectic agency to an in house creative team at a relatively unknown tech startup. I’ll get a significant raise and a better work environment but still on the fence. Thoughts?
I was due for a promotion but then covid hit, and during the peak of layoffs/furloughs, I was given the run-around that we have agency wide promotion freezes, etc. Over the past month, a handful of people have been promoted. I know everyone's situation is different but I can't help feeling snubbed. How do I know whether they are genuinely trying to promote me and can't, versus them stringing me along for as long as possible? I dont want it to come to having to bring another offer to the table..
What are my in-house options in NYC? I have 3 years of substantive labor & employment litigation experience, including trial experience. Looking for better hours & a pay raise.
Currently have 2.5 yrs of audit experience (1.5 with pwc) thinking to move to another big 4 as a senior? (Deloitte) (pwc is a bit wishy washy about my promotion timeline) or jump to industry? What roles in industry is best for career growth?
Question— do you share your comp with close friends? Me and my roommate have been friends forever and while I don’t really share my specific pay, Im not sure if I should share it with her. When she got promoted she told me her comp tho I didn’t ask. Today I found out I was promoted (🎉) and left that part out. She asked me if I knew what my raise would be and I just told her the % but not the actual amount. Is that unnecessarily secretive? We’re in diff industries too.
Anyone have any tough negotiations with their employer regarding pay raise, origination, etc? I mean tough to mean like considerable back and forth over certain terms?

More experienced PwCers: I'm an associate who got a top rating and a large raise during CRTs. How scared do I need to be about getting laid off?
Any thoughts on the best certifications to get in order to help move forward? I have considered the CCP from World at Work, but it’s fairly pricey to get by the time you wrap up everything. I was looking at both SHRM-CP and SPHR. Everyone that I have spoken to has the SHRM, but that’s also only looking at individuals in a small geographic footprint and within 3-4 different companies. I was hoping to get some thoughts on this from others? Thanks
One week post final round interview but no feedback yet. Is it over / am I ghosted? Tech company
Account people: how do you like working at JL, what's the work-life balance like, and share your account if comfortable.
Given the option of (A) running a small-mid size recruiting dept in a smaller agency, or (B) recruiting client-side / in-house marketing department — which would be preferred, and why?
Anyone at Slalom know how the new titles align with the old ones? Interviewing and I was told I would come in at Senior Consultant or Principal. Do either of those align with Solutions Architect or Solutions Principal?
What are peoples thoughts on buying a house on an FHA with minimal down payment? Don’t have a ton of free cash but am doing well in consulting currently, additionally my fiancé is about to start as a PA with a very nice salary.
Normal to feel like you only work a couple hours a week? Client has off fridays and leaves early daily and SOW is lax. Not really sure what I’m learning, most days I order team lunch and book some
Has anyone ever used the Samaritans? My therapist is on holiday and I badly need help. My boyfriend is ghosting me after a fight and I have the strong feeling it’s over and he’s just being cruel. My self esteem and outlook are zero. I’ve been told EAP is terrible for this so need a temporary option that is free or very cheap. I’m based in the UK in case that helps.
Grey's Anatomy is like a long term project. Top talent and rising stars leave for bigger/better, new cast are onboarded and rolled off, and the one person who stuck it out makes partner/exec producer
I have an offer for £55K as a senior consultant at a boutique firm in London (supply chain consulting). 10-15% bonus and £5K relocation since I'll be moving from North America. Good or bad offer? I have 5.5 YOE total, 2 in consulting
I am a graduating student and trying to find a therapist as all the counselors at my school are kind of bs. Where can I start? I have no insurance... looking for help with PTSD
Hi UK 🐠: grateful if someone can share the comp range (base + bonus + any other benefits like stock options) at Director level at Capgemini Invent? TIA 🙏
Innocean in SoCal is hiring for lots of roles... all levels of Account, Social Media Strategy, Social Community Management, Producers, Media Planner, CRM Strategist, Presentation Designer, QA Analyst and more. DM me for direct referral to HR innoceanusa.com/careers
I’m pretty sure colleagues at my firm are inflating their billable hours. Is this the norm? I suspect many of you will think this is obvious and/or that I’m naive but wtf? I find hitting 2200 is tough even with a good sized work load. Am I just expected to play the game? I don’t want to sound self-righteous but if most are lying just to make the requirement, then maybe the requirement should be lower.
From talking to students at multiple M7 schools, it seems like all of the BB/MBB/FAANG companies recruit at most if not all of the schools . So if you're planning on recruiting for one of these, is there really a major difference in career opportunities between each school? Asking because it seems like some schools are specifically known for finance vs consulting vs tech, but if the companies are all recruiting at all these schools, the differences don't seem as pronounced to me.
Not sure if anyone asked this before, but what are some of the best books that you’ve ready about money, investing, and finance that you’ve read and you always go by? And if not books then YouTubers, IG, etc…
My benefits page shows that the before tax contribution and Roth 401k contribution can both be matched by my company (up to 6%) which do I choose ? I thought Roth wasn't matched?
