Who cares? I didn’t see them cleansing your mental health or your salary. Why clean their laptop.
Depends on the workplace and the circumstances. There is not a blanket re-image policy in IT.
For example, we used to image hard drives into cold storage when finance staff left. This would be used later in the event of fraud or forensically significant stuff that was traced back to an individual.
And any sort of termination for cause (not the case with the OP) would also result in a full data pull on that machine.
A lot depends on what you use your laptop for. In most cases, we're just using the browser - so clearing your browser history and cookies is pretty much all that's needed. If you had multiple browsers, you'll want to go into each browser and do this to be thorough.
Unfortunately, anything locally stored could be problematic. If your org has any sort of data loss prevention (DLP) software installed on the laptop, moving files off to a USB stick is NOT advised. Don't email it to yourself, try to move it to the cloud, etc. Smartest move is to get permission to copy it off - they may reserve the right to inspect all the files before letting you do so. That is unless you are 100% certain they are not using DLP. No idea what Deloitte does.

Bring a really strong magnet and move it over the hard drive multiple times.

Is it an apple or a PC?
Soap & water
I have heard a coffee spill may occur rather abruptly on your last day.
Just wipe down with isopropyl alcohol.
The usual.
Clean cookies, history, browser cache.
Delete files and empty recycle bin. This won't prevent recovery but at least will prevent someone non technical from being "curious".
Depends on what you have on it. I personally have never used the company laptop for any personal stuff, other than to occasionally check social media. So I was not concerned when I turned my laptop in. If you have a bunch of personal stuff (pics, website forms/passwords/cookies, documents, apps), then you should do a bit of a sweep. Just google "how to clean my laptop" and there are dozens of good punch lists.
Spit all over and wipe it.

Literally no one is going to care. Most times they just reimage or recycle the PC immediately. But if youre just being Bond for Bond's sake you can create a new user, then delete your old user. It's not gonna stop anyone who takes FTK to your hard drive, but if that's the scrutiny you're expecting you're kinda screwed.
