Tips on how to deal with a difficult office manager who plays favorites with some support staff and doesn’t treat the others fairly? I am consistently being treated like a child instead of an adult. I have a review with my HR Rep next month and feel I want to mention it as I don’t appreciate how she’s treating me.

I'm sorry that you're going through this. Not sure of your level of seniority with the firm but I'd definitely tread carefully when expressing this concern with HR. Be sure to express that it is a professional environment and you wish to be treated with the same level of respect as other members of the firm. Be prepared for possible awkward interactions and retaliation for calling out this office manager.

Refuse to engage via email. Walk over to her desk to confront her over anything. She’ll back off when she realizes you are not stooping to her level.

Be careful when dealing with HR, remember they work for the company. Document everything that is happening to you. Also, have a talk with your manager about this situation. Who is her supervisor, speak to who she reports to. You can speak to HR, dont expect a miracle, but it will be good to let HR know, just in case something happens. It's inexcusable what she is doing. Good luck.

I agree with everything here. Document, document, but don't expect any thing to change. You might consider searching for a new job.

Last week team dynamics took a turn for the worst (even tho in each retro the team always commend each other, you would think team work is great). Team members get agitated with each other for being slow. Small family law firm. We hired our first associate almost 2 years ago. Granted her first year was virtual due to pandemic but she just doesn’t seem to be getting it. Motions are not nearly where they should be to the point where we can’t even give edits, we’re having to do complete rewrites. We spoke to her and her response was that we’re not paying her to give her all. We kept her on and gave her feedback and another chance. Nothing changed. Do we talk to her again or is it time to let her go?

Therefore it was harder for this person to find a new project. How to investigate if this is correlates with microagressions and discrimination towards black people? Any ideas? How to convince non POC that this is a problem?

Any advice on how to tastefully tell your manager that you no longer want to be a charge nurse anymore? For us being in charge is having full assignment 3p-7p & being responsible for assigning pts , communicating w/ supervisor about various issues, making the assignment for next shift, and a mini report about each pt for the next charge. On the weekends, same responsibilities but 7a-7p. We don't get any additional pay for being in charge and I'm sick of the added responsibility and stress of it.

His level was significantly higher than mine and everytime I think about it I feel so gross and used.

I’m a boomerang and regret it. The whole things have changed was obviously BS which I figured. I feel like a loser that I have talent but my peers (lifer consultants) live and die by the slide. I have the client complaining about it to me and I try to simplify things, use dashboards etc. but my senior keeps insisting on boiling the ocean. The client isn’t digesting any of our eye charts that are like Grenades. They can’t touch or collaborate on the work. This monolithic old way needs to stop.

Any tips for a paralegal who wants to transition to an in-house position? I have 2.5 years of para experience and a decade of admin experience. I have my BA, AS, and AAS which are all related to the paralegal field, and various applicable certificates. I am unsure if my resume is wrong in terms of not tailoring my resume or working for multiple law firms for a few months due to being hired through a recruiting agency.

What should I do to get more callbacks/interviews? Should I reach out to HR/Recruiter directly? Should I get a paralegal cert? Should I do the programs on Forage?
