I flip my husband onto his side while he’s sleeping...he is responsive. I’m a super light sleeper
I do the same thing! Roll him onto the side facing away from me + I roll the opposite way + earplugs. It’s not perfect but it helps
Omg. Just get an adjustable bed base. It’s like $800 of the best money you will ever spend. I can raise our heads if he’s snoring until I get to the right height where he shuts up.

Or at least just a wedge pillow. Cheaper and less commitment. It helped my partner a ton. Also helps alleviate heart burn.

I tried ear plugs and a white noise machine. They started rolling him over. Nothing worked so I slept in the other room. Finally dumped him though thank god.
Ear plugs are great would also recommend
I legit read “snoring” as “snorting” and had to go back and read again 😂 i’m going insane
Quarantine is doing that to all of us, don’t worry 😂

Could he have sleep apnea? Maybe he needs a CPAP
Chief
Agree with EY3, he probably has sleep apnea! All these suggestions of ear plugs, headphones, pillows, changing sides, sleeping on the couch, leaving them completely, etc. just have the guy do a sleep study and you’ll know at 6am the next morning if he has sleep apnea. Easy enough 🤷🏼♂️
I’ve had sleep apnea for most of my life and have used a CPAP for 15 years. I’ve fluctuated weights over the years by 100 pounds with no change to my sleep apnea. I’ve gotten my tonsils out with no change. I’ve tried every possible sleep aid and pillow and nasal strip and diet, etc. with no change because it’s sleep apnea.
The CPAP machines are very high tech now, they are connected via WiFi and track all your sleep data and communicate with sleep specialists so if you instantly get feedback if you need adjustments. The machine is practically silent and once the mask is on, it’s also practically silent. You can sleep in the same bed with him and won’t need earplugs!
Before you kick him out, at least give him a chance to go for a sleep study, please. Your GP can refer you to usually a pulmonary doctor who will enroll you in a sleep study. In my case it was 100% covered by insurance because I have other underlying neurological issues and my neurologist issued the sleep study order, but your GP should find something. Just being at a risk of a heart attack is usually enough for insurance to cover the sleep study.
Good luck OP! And please remember, it’s not your husbands fault, it’s a medical condition. However if he chooses not to do anything about it then it is his fault.

Good luck OP and thanks for having a good attitude about it! It is fixable and they have pulmonary doctors and sleep doctors and entire clinics devoted to helping people sleep better so there are solutions out there. Hang in there! 👍
My husband is an aggressive snorer (?), but if he cuts dairy out of his diet even for a day he barely snores that night, if at all. Even better if he cuts gluten out too. We do a Whole30 every January and it’s the best sleep I get all year!
Wow I’ve never heard of dairy causing snoring. So crazy, but definitely something to consider. Thanks!

I grew up in a family of major snorers. Here’s my ideas:
Take his pillows away.
Go to bed first, he cant sleep until you fall asleep. (I found it doesnt wake me but rather keeps me from falling asleep).
While he’s sleeping, take his pillows and gently set them on his face. I’ve found this impedes breathing enough they stop snoring but they don’t wake up. (No joke this works).
Take Benadryl (you) to help make you sleepy.
All else fails, drink until you pass out.

Totally thought this post was going to end with smothering 🤣
Lectrofan white noise machine is a game changer
I have...doesn't drown out my hubby's snoring but have to agree it's the bomb in general. So small yet so damn loud if you want it to be. Great in hotels!!!

I have these, and they work so well
Very! My husband snores and it was torture for years! It didn’t matter what position he was laying in. I also used them when I was traveling. I’m a light sleeper. I love these.
Does he drink alcohol?
If so, he should stop.
Also, he should sleep on the couch. Or you :)
That makes it tough. :)
Lose weight?
I read that elsewhere, but he’s not overweight so I don’t think that’ll help unfortunately. Thanks for the suggestion though.
Partially sitting up, 2 pillows may help.

My ex had a huge snoring problem. He did a few things to fix it: (1) lost weight - once he lost the weight he stopped snoring; (2) his nose had an issue from when he broke it years ago so he went to the doc to fix it surgically and (3) same doc recommended a tonsillectomy so he did that too.
White noise machine helps a ton
Your man needs a sleep study possibly resulting in a positive sleep apnea. Then he gets a CPap and you will sleep like a baby. If that’s too much work elbow him and have him turn in his side.

Hold a pillow over his head until he stops.
Seriously the sleep study is the best idea, bad news it’s likely going to have to wait until this is over.
He should have a sleep study to determine if he has apnea, which can negatively affect his long term health.
For you, make an appointment with an Audiologist and have custom made ear plugs. They are about $300, but they are life changing. A good ENT practice will have an audiologist on staff or will recommend a reputable one for you.

Give these a shot. You place them inside your nose and it basically opens up your airways.
Thank you!
