Tips on what to say when sending an email to your ex boss at your previous company. I want it to come across like I’m checking in / open to catch up but also willing to take my old job back if it’s open.

For the email keep it open as a catch up. You can weave the old job topic back into conversation when you talk over the phone or meet up.

I agree that good bosses are usually mentors…. No I am not a student anymore.

Just had quite a few bosses in my day now and hasn’t had a reason to reach out to any of them or any desire to catch up. Only reason I would is if I needed a job from them again. So I probs am projecting here a bit

“Boss,

What’s the good word? I’m hoping to reconnect with you and have a catch up? How do you think Biden is doing?

Best,
SC”

I’m a ~5 month associate on a relatively complex and fast paced project. Since a lot of the work takes a certain amount of expertise, I often times don’t have much to do. I’ve been reaching out to my seniors to ask for more work and I try to be proactive by doing tasks before being told, but it feels like I’m just annoying my team by always trying to find things to do. On the other hand It feels wrong to sit around and do nothing. Has anybody found themselves in a similar situation? Any advice?
