WOULD A DRINK HELP?
By going back in our own drinking histories, we could show that years before we realized it we were out of control, that our drinking even then was no mere habit, that it was indeed the beginning of a fatal progression.

Take up biking. Helped me stop hitting the bottle. It’ll also make you realize how bad your cardio is lmao
Or running. The runners high is just as good as the weed smoking high.
I went on a vacation recently and had 0 access to it. I was able to stop for 5 days, but I picked it back up once I arrived home. Maybe try to get away to get over the hardest part?
Daily smoker for a year. I quit about a year ago and still feel cravings. I swapped out that addiction with gaming instead

OP is it something that has become unmanageable or a crutch for a deeper issue that you’re trying to escape from? If so then it is okay to find support . PM me if you want to talk about it :)
I’ve always found that when I’m truly struggling with a compulsion, the easiest thing is to break it down into the smallest, most manageable steps.
If I don’t want to drink, I don’t buy booze. If I’m worried I’ll get it when I go to the store, I don’t go. I ask someone else to go or have groceries delivered. If I’m meeting friends at a place that there’s booze, I make sure I’ve got a way out if I need one.
If I’m really struggling with it, I try to occupy my mind with something else. Read a book, take a walk, talk to someone, play with the dogs. I’ve found that the best solution for using has been to substitute the time and energy I dedicated to drugs and alcohol to something else. It’s really worked.
Good luck. Please reach out if you need help.
