When we give interview, clear rounds, sometimes we want updates too whether we got selected or got rejected. How difficult it is to share the feedback.
Why you guys keep us hanging on a thin thread of hope and despair. Why don't you end the suffering by telling the truth right way.

Hiya I am from Recruiting.
Would like to share 3 scenarios -
1. One of my colleague shared a rejection mail to a candidate, candidate asked for detailed feedback she shared that as well so he can prepare well for his next interviews.
The candidate wrote back pretty offensive mail and shared the detailed feedback mail to a friend of his who happens to be on a top position in that org.which resulted in - Getting the HR fired with No explanation and she was fired just because she was not supposed to share it openly why he got rejected.
2. Not every org.has an automatic process to share the feedback mailers to candidates so recruiters are posting manually.
For one position the minimum application we receive is 2000-3000 now imagine replying back manually + managing day to day work.
But having said that - Please make it a habit when you have invested this much time in getting interviewed, invest 5 more mins.post 24 hours of your interview if in case you are not informed when they will let you know the final result, please drop a follow up email.
3. It is not always the HR.
One of my open position is supposed to be closed internally, been a month since all the interviews had taken place.
All the follow up emails, calls have gone to Hiring manager and no reply in written till date whom they selected, whom they rejected and why.


Well in that case you can doubt the value of company but this is pretty common scenario of consumer internet based orgs.
Well even if you clicked to hit apply on a job, I as a recruiter need to reply on 3000 applications because you showed interest and invested that much time to apply.
In my 8 years of experience till date I never dealt with a situation where I have to just interview 5/6 person at most for one selection, this would be wildest dream of every recruiter.
As per you every org.have poor screening process then because every hiring manager wants to see the worst, average and the best candidate and as a Recruiter I have to showcase that.
Oh no, if we start getting offended by candidates, I don’t know how we will take another breathe.
Because as a candidate you just see your candidature, I manage thousands of them in a day with thousand different needs and expectations.
And mind it, I do get back to them no matter if they got screen reject(to tell what made them so, if they are interested to know), to inform about their rounds (what their rounds would be all about), for selection and final rejections as well.


I'm not a recruiter but I see why sometimes HRs don't get back with the response, few times they are overwhelmed with the sheer number of responses to give.
Just like job seekers have multiple offers in hand, HRs will also have multiple candidate for a position, they need to consider the budget and other metrics before selecting the candidate for next round, say you ask 30L per annum but someone who performs similar or better to you asks only 20L, so they'll eventually want the other candidate to confirm, but the other candidate may backoff then you have a chance.

GHOSTING, this is done by most of the HRs. We wait/check with them but responses are minimal. Mostly if its positive a mail or call will come for further process, but we would really love a mail stating you are lacking on so and so so we wont be preceding ahead with you OR we are not moving ahead with you suits too. But no response doesn't clear the dilemma that we have cleared it or not.

And if it was a company for which we were delightly waiting for we just wait for them for more and more days to. get back, but still no response.

Communication should be complete in whatever form it may be, whether it be through mail/call/message etc. but just reject us na we are happy to see a rejection mail(Atleast we know what's the status) bs then Life's sorted and we can move ahead or do whatever we want to do.
I would say never wait for a org to reply, keeping giving out interviews.
I too have wasted lot of time calling out companies where I did everything good from my end but no response so itts creates a dilemma what is the issue with me?What did I do wrong?
There might be scenarios where someone was hired based on less salary expectation than you many more scenarios could be there

True, been there many times.
Although there are companies like Swiggy and flipkart which are very quick to share feedback.
In this ghosting scenario what hurts most is the same HR who had called you 10 times before interview totally stops receiving calls after interview. Both HR and hiring manager should be hold accountable for such nonsense.
I have faced same scenario with Capegemini(what a fool that HR was).

Or simply they take your interview as backup to their first choice in case he didn’t join , then they can go for backup guy reason to string you along


@Tcs - I completely agree with you, but the problem is that you are asking an answer to a tuff question. Point is - hr's will never inform you or provide you with the feedback and they will continue to ghost people, come what may. It is better for us to keep giving interviews and not expect any feedback. If you are selected hr's will contact you because then it becomes mandatory for them to get in touch.


This happened in initial interviews now I learnt it hard way that you should show them mirror. Attend and clear interview then don't join and if HR calls you tell her the story.


Hahaha I work as a recruiter and this is the funniest thing I ever read.

Most 'Chindi-chor' HRs are in TCS... Every time they take interview and during salary discussion they will say that we can't even offer your current package.


Both Cogni and Hexaware are budget stringent orgs.
So if you have quoted salary within their ranges they will get back to you, if not they won’t get back to you and will busy in finding the candidate fitting into their budget.


Totally agree on this point, this happened with me recently from Mindtree. I cleared all the technical rounds and later after the HR discussion, I am continuously following up with the HR regarding the offer, they have been delaying by giving the reason of background verification.

I have no clue if I'll get the offer or not.
Lost all hopes from Mindtree. So started giving further interviews in other companies.

Atleast if they clearly tell if I was rejected or if the position was filled by someone else then it would make the confusion clear.


I did ask this question, she didn't reply me with any timeline.
Instead she said " we still haven't got approval from background team, don't wait for Mindtree ". No idea if this means someone else filled the position or something else.


I feel you. Been there.


Ya now a days companies take documents discuss salary then ghost the candidate.

How do you suggest the candidate proceed in an interview if they are really want an answer in the end, besides the interview performance part which we all get. Having salary discussions and then submitting all the docs give us a lot of hope.


Oh trust me I have done it with 3 orgs. As a candidate and then they forgot me for 2 months and I too forgot them after waiting for 1 day and I got interviewed at 4th org.
If they are keen to waste their time, I am happy for them but my time is money for me so I invested in an org.which was happy to offer than to think 2 months whether to offer or not.


Not all HR's are bad..but very few do share the feedback. But wo HR hain..aisa nhi krenge to HR kaise keh layenge 🤪🤪


I beg to differ from your views, from getting you interviewed till your selection / rejection 90% decision is in Hiring manager’s hand - Including giving your feedback on time but since it is easy to mock HRs toh kya jata hai bhai.
They are the ones fighting to get you guys offer to so you can ghost them / negotiate on top of that offer but not all software engineers do that, isn’t it!


Keep preparing brother without expecting any calls from hr. Just give an interview and start looking for another interview. Prepare all questions which you could not answer in the last interview . I reached the managerial round of many companies and was not selected...initially felt bad but later stopped thinking about selection and concentrated on preparation . Two things happened 1). My fear while giving interviews completely gone 2). Started getting offers from multiple organization's . Many organization's whom I did not even asked if iam selected , did select me and took their own time to roll offer letter . But yet i gave interviews for more organization's . There was an HR who was forcefully scheduling my video interview in my office hours and was talking arrogantly. It was my second round of interview. I straight away told her I don't want to go ahead with your organization and you can cancel further interviews and i cut the call. Later they themselves organized the interviews as per my time and I got selected also. So you are important brother not the company. You just keep giving interviews and you will get expert in giving interviews overtime.


Completely agree . All communication means stop working for them after salary round

Nowadays a trend is different they gather all the docs from you before offer generation and then the wait starts ..


Had couple of rounds of interviews at Centric Consulting for a Tech BA role and cleared them all - only to get no response from HR. Tried calling, mailing the HR for further process but nothing. Few days later HR wrote in email that my expected CTC was above their budget. This was when they knew from day one what my expectation was !!

Few days later, their junior HR reached back to me, trying to persuade me and somehow making it work. Asked me to share counter offer, which I did reluctantly - since I was returning to job market after a break.

Immediately ghosted post that! No mail, no calls, no nothing. Wrote multiple emails (as I was nearing joining at other org) but simply nothing!

Would love to name and shame them as well should this become a popular demand ;)

HR is not the only person who decides your salary, Hiring manager is your culprit- They are the ones who raise request, they are the ones who know your salary, expected salary from Day 1 and post selection they are the ones to put you on hold, leaving HR clueless what to do next now.
Naming and shaming never results in getting the Hiring manager fired but does helps in getting HRs fired at times.
But yeah if you think doing this is justified at your end, please go ahead.

It's really frustrating...I gave an interview and waiting for an update atleast a feedback, so that I can move on and focus on other available jobs.

But they take decades to just share feedback..why hang a associate for an update, I can understand that you have other interviews but an ETA will help us as well.

Agreed!!! I recently cleared tech interview and attended managerial interview.. its been 1 week and I'm going nuts with no response from their end...first two rounds they finished in 3 days..not sure if they would revert back either...just want a response from them..

If you dont get update move on.they do not want to communicate if news is not good.which is not bad.they dont want to make you feel bad
