This job is miserable without travel.
I can relate.

Got a random email from a supposed Amazon recruiter for a SDE position (which is not at all a fit). The email is amazon.com domain and there are no red flags in the body but it doesn't feel like an Amazon recruiter due to the tacky signature, etc. Has anyone seen this kind of cold-calling from FAANG recruiter?

Its a tough call, 1.5 to 2 years is still junior enough that you're still essentially coming in with a low experience level, plus they need to train in KPMG's approach vs ACN's.
For context, I am also interviewing for a new job at a different consulting firm and I have 2.5 years of experience and am interviewing for an associate role, but may try to negotiate a senior associate role after offer if possible.
Each firm is different on the salary thing - I don't give a hard number in an interview, usually say say "I expect something fair based on my years of experience in the industry" or something like that.
I'm in a position where I'd rather have the new job that the incremental $20k TBH, in the long run it'll balance out income-wise so I see it more as maximizing career opportunities through this new firm vs my current one.
Trying to negotiate it right out of the gate is harder because you haven't proven yourself to the new company yet that you're worth it. Given you're at 1.5 years I would on paper put you in for entry level but potentially fast track for promotion. It may be helpful to try to list out the pros and cons of switching RN in your career, what are the negatives with Accenture making you want to leave? What are the incremental benefits of KPMG?
That being said I know this is a huge wall of text - if you need any help preparing for your interview message me - we can probably mock together ahead of your interview.
If I stay at Accenture for another 6 months, chances are I would get promoted to a consultant (which is the equivalent of a senior consultant at KPMG) so it doesn’t make sense to start at consultant at KPMG right?
Also what’s a fair salary to ask?
One of my bosses always said this, and I find it a useful reminder: “I can’t promise you will get all you ask for, but I can promise you will NOT get what you DON’T ask for...”
Saying this as someone who asked for a senior role while being interviewed for a junior / undefined role - worked in my favor at the time.
Out of curiosity - why would you move to KPMG from Accenture? May as well stick around and grow with a better brand?
