Yay!!! No more masks for the vaccinated in most stores! Even more excited to go to Costco than usual 😇
Name your role/function. Then in two sentences or less, pitch what you do as wildly more impactful or meaningful than it actually is.
If during a behavioral interview, the interviewer asked technical questions (and caught you off guard), are you doomed?
Sorry if this is the wrong place for this, but does anyone have an eating disorder and find this way of life incredibly triggering? I was doing so much better when I was remote and local, and now that I'm always traveling, I'm not doing so hot.
I’d like to apologize in advance as this maybe a touchy topic for certain folks. For those that have been in the Big 4 for sometime now (i.e. was hired before this covid induced hiring spree over the past couple months), are you concerned that your market value would decrease as a result of the firms hiring people left and right? In other words, the recruiting has been excessively relaxed now compared to when there was intense competition.
I’m crrently a Consultant at Deloitte w roughly 2.5 YOE supporting ERP Implementations. Looking to exit into a supply chain / process improvement / manufacturing engineering (my undergrad background) opportunity in the DC-Baltimore area. Does anyone have any similar experiences, recommendations, or roles they are aware of?
When you have a manager so bad, you and everyone under them quit, and HR questions the team about “leadership culture”, but they still get promoted to SM -_-
Generalist strategy consultants (esp those at MBB or T2), how hard was PERM for you? I know someone failed PERM because company did recruit someone (US citizen) with same title (entry level generalist software developer) and does same work, during the PERM period. I imagine that’s an issue for consulting generalists as well given companies recruit tons of Americans as strategy consulting generalists as well, right?
Should I stop depositing into my 401k?
I have a boss that always canceled meetings with me including performance reviews. I’ve been trying to get on his calendar to let him know I’m leaving but just getting more of the same. All of my work is in good shape but needs senior eyes and not left for junior folks to handle. Some of them are high profile and client-facing. How do I close this chapter without burning bridges?
Are AlixPartners or Alvarez & Marsal’s TRS/Restructuring groups on a hiring freeze? (I heard A&M was recently). TIA
Design time. Challenge number 3 coming your way in the form of a more meaningful topic this month, centered around tomorrow: World Mental Health Day. As designers, we put so much time into making something cool, fun, or that makes money. But we should also use our design powers for good. You up for it?
My firm normally has annual review meetings in August and pay raises take effect on October 1st. On a call held in early September they said the meetings would actually take place at the end of September. Next, there was a zoom call last week in which management did not mention reviews at all until someone asked when they will be, and they said “soon”. Thoughts?
title / salary / location / years of experience
Mid-career/M level fishes: suggestion on how to nip in bud when project is feeling beyond your grasp from a content/SME-wise? As a M, it’s my role to clarify, delegate and direct to rest if team. My SM is more experienced in the technical content and is doing more of the management activities that I feel should be doing. I’m feeling increasingly lost. Doesn’t help my key junior resources exited + PTO on what ended up being a critical content week.
What are your thoughts on exiting to a Manager role at Accenture Strategy vs. DigitalBCG “project lead”? I eventually want to exit to a FAANG and do something around Business/Product Strategy or Product Management like most consultants 😂. I would say Business Strategy is probably more realistic with my work experience. I more than 5 years of experience and do not have an Ivy League MBA. Thanks in advance!
Hey guys. Looking to do a career pivot into M&A/growth strategy consulting. Any insight into what kind of questions are asked during the interview and advice on how to navigate them at the senior associate level? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated 🙏
