Start with a montage if you have a lot to showcase, then play your best 3-4 spots right after.
Where the montage comes handy is to show the types of accounts you’ve worked on. For example - food type spots may not be the darling of your reel - but seeing it rolled into a montage showcases your diversity. I started in automotive retail and putting those spots into a montage was much sexier than showing 3-4 “[insert holiday] SALES EVENT!” Spots in a row
Personally I prefer just spots as long as you show breadth of work and versatility.
Individual pieces, with the brand and agency and director clearly listed. Montages always make me feel like someone is trying to overcompensate for a lack of something (like consistency, or quality) with music and editing.
No montage unless your and Editor or Dp no one has time for it better show your best three spots and get on with it or you’ll lose your audience.
No montage. Just show finished work.
