I usually end up doing some work Sundays
A significant number of my colleagues are observant and I usually see them online Saturday night and Sunday day :/
Not Jewish but my managing partner was - she would leave early on Fridays and work on Sundays.
I'm not in biglaw, so it was never an issue - just told my superiors what time I was going to leave the office and what time I was going to go dark on Friday. For holidays, I would get a week ahead on the docket and ensure coverage for anything that might come due during that time.
For my friends in biglaw, they would dig through their email and put in a few hours Sat night, and then most of Sunday when necessary.
I think most important is communicating with your superiors and making sure that your hours are comparable to your colleagues on a weekly basis.
Not orthodox but still observant - it’s been difficult psychologically telling partners (mostly not Jewish) that I’m unavailable during Shabbat when work is scarce right now.
